Start him off with A New Hope, hopefully the original version this way you won't have to explain that Han Solo really did shoot first.

.....for the very first time, what order would you play them the films?

The subject in this case is 6 years old.

Episode I, and take notes.  My friend and I are looking forward to the day we get to sit with his 3-yo nephew through them.  We figure that he'll actually enjoy the first three about as equally as the last three.  To us, the last three are "as good as you can get" while the more recent first three episodes "fall short but are half-decent contributions".  We actually rate the animated Clone Wars sagas being played on TV right now higher than the first three episodes... too bad it's very youth-tuned though, would of loved to of seen it as a HBO TV series.

LOL, hey, I liked the Anderson novels. It's amazing tho how this universe keeps growing. Chewies dead, Jacen going to the dark side, His sister is a bug...weird. But either way, I heard they were going to start pushing the novels out into a TV series. Can anyone confirm that?

I can imagine that, he was always too agressive to be a Jedi.  The dark side, eat him up it did.  In his sparring with Anakin, he was always choppy, angry, and agressive.  He was too concerned with mastering the weapon part of being a Jedi Knight, just like his grandpa.

Old Destrillion+Chewie+Dovin Basal=Best comedic character OWNED by "13 trillion tons of danger"(Han Solo).

So the bugs can use the force too?  Wait wait wait, it said in Vector Prime that the Bugs couldn't use the force, that they were completely unable to register with it, even animals and plants could be sensed by a Jedi (got that from research).  Too weird, I've gotta read the book that has that part in it.

Episode I

May I remind you, by starting with the first three, you are cutting the legs out from under the biggest plot twist of the century...

"Luke... I am your father!"

"That's not true! THATS IMPOSSIBLE!"

(Yeah, i could probably quote that movie verbatim.)

Too bad you just used the legendary MISquote. ;)

Vader: Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father.
Luke: He told me enough! He told me YOU killed him!
Vader: No. *I* am your father.
Luke: Noooo! That's not true! That's IMPOSSIBLE!
Vader: Search your feelings, you KNOW it to be true!
Luke: NOOOOOO!

Anyone who says Hamil can't act needs to be sat down and forced to watch that scene over and over.

Although IMO the best out of ALL the lightsaber duels was Return of the Jedi's. You could just FEEL the way Luke and Vader were not just dueling with their weapons, but with their WILLS as each tried to turn the other: Luke to redeem his father, Vader to draw his son to the Dark Side. There was an emotional stake in that battle that the prequels never even came close to matching

Sax, that was changed in the Digital Remastered Collector's Edition Box Set :)

And yes, Hamil is a GREAT actor. When he can go from a movie like Star Wars to Jay and Silent Bob, and be just as serious in both.

Nope. Vader NEVER said, "Luke, I am your father" on any version. Lucas didn't change any dialog in the Original Trilogy with the THX Remastered version. This didn't occur until the Special Edition was released in theaters, and it was only a few throwaway lines, none of the major dialog (well, not until Lucas meddled with the conversation between Vader and the Emperor in the ESB DVD).

If I were to make an "ultimate edition" Original Trilogy, I'd start with the pre-Special Edition THX remaster, add the two restored scenes from the ANH DVD (Han encounters Jabba outside the Falcon and Luke talking with Biggs and Red Leader just before taking off from Yavin) and leave everything else as it was in the original.

You liked the speech with Jabba? I thought that was some of the wort CG I have ever seen.

It was MUCH better done in the DVD version of ANH (thus why I specified the ANH DVD).

I always thought Vader said "Search your feelings, you know it be true." - kinda old timey outter space english.  ;)  He is very slow and deliberate with his lines and nowhere else do his words run so close together (if you are correct).  I played the clip back several times and it is inconclusive whether he says to or not.

I've got DVDs and VHS. Neither are even decent IMHO in regards to that one scene.

As a devout Star Wars nerd, I can say with certainty, go IV, V, VI, I, II, III

Same... except maybe the devout nerd part.
