Help With video card?

Hi and thanks in advance for the help. I switched my video card from a Geforce4 MX440 64mb to a ATI S120 256mb also did a fresh install of Windows 2000. Aces High was running before all this and now it is crashing before it fully starts up. I have tried to reinstall old card and drivers but same thing happens. I believe all drivers are up to date. I'm at a loss of what i missed.

I'm seeing a couple of problems;

1. The IRQ conflict with (I'm guessing) your PCI/USB card and the PCI/ethernet card. I'd suggest you try changing slots on one of them, that can sometimes fix the issue.

2. The Dxdiag says you're using a 9250, not either of the 2 video cards you mentioned.

Is there a driver list in the dxdiag?

I can't fit the driver list and yes it comes up as 9250 the new card is ATI Radeon stealth s120 Diamond I installed the driver that was on the disk.

You're right, it is the same card. My mistake... let me find some drivers for you.

This is the link to the ATI site, I'd recommend you use the display driver only, not the catalyst software that ATI puts out. There has been a few problems with it in AH...

If you can, use a driver cleaner program prior to installing the newer drivers.

I know it is my sons system and was trying to get a little more out of it by updating the videocard but now having issues getting it started again tried deliriums link but that didn't work i think it's failing on the video side. Even the windows screen seems out of sorts as far as the graphics goes I think it should be some what clearer.I'm at a loss for ideas

  OMG Radioshack is still selling that card...for $90 even!!!

You might try reseating that card in the slot...also, if you didn't remove the Nvidia drivers before you removed the MX440 card, it can cause issues in Win2k. Grab a copy of driver sweeper and remove all graphics card driver that it detects... http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/
