« on: February 10, 2010, 08:12:15 PM »
hi all 49Trojan here

thought i would share with you all some pics of a spitfire VIII that i am involved with at my local aerodrome
its a project to re build this amazing aircraft back to its former glory, if you live in the UK or are visiting us,and you
would like to view the spitfire just contact me here in the forums or send me an ingame pm and we can arrange it

As you can see she is pretty much stripped down to the bare frame just now, while restoration work is being carryed out. Ill add more pics

Nice, will she be restored back to flying condition, or just a static display?

Is that a former RAAF 457 squadron plane?

Whats the serial on that VIII?  I saw MV154 is moving to Germany so the UK needs to get a VIII flying to replace it!

JG 668 was manufactured at Supermarine Vickers Ltd during March 1944 as part of Contract 1877 / C.23 C and was delivered to Chattis Hill, Winchester 6th MU on 18th March 1944. From here it went to 82nd MU where it was crated and shipped to Australia aboard the SS 'Mit Park', arriving on the 19th June 1944. It was assembled and delivered to 457 Squadron during July 1944 and was flown primarily for fighter training until the wars end. During May 1946 it suffered an undisclosed accident and was stored unrepaired at RAAF Oakey in Queensland.

Thanks for the history.  Isn't there a website out there for this particular Spit?  Seems like I recall running across it at one point a while back.

Thanks for the pictures.I would like to say just this....to the gang at Grapevine,I really appreciate the work you have put into detailing accurately the gauges in that Spit VIII!I was just wondering if the gauges on all aircraft in Aces High II,are as accurate as on the Spit VIII?I'm sure that some cockpit pictures are very difficult to find, and I would hope that one of the AH staff might answer if all the other aircraft panels are as accurate as the Spit?I think we AH players need to give credit to the staff at Grapevine for their efforts to bring us this sim as well done as they have.I will bite my tongue before I ever whine about something in reference to this sim.Well done, and thank you all!
