Last Minute Valentines
« on: February 10, 2010, 11:12:15 PM »
Looking for that last-minute Valentines gift? Proflowers.com has a nice package of 12 roses, a teddy bear, chocolates, and a spa pack for about $60 with shipping. Just thought I would let the guys know out here who may have forgotten the day IS coming up!

I try to stay clear of actually buying things for valentines, this year im making my own card on photoshop and making a picnic for us to have at the park (hope the weather is nice)

But of course the one thing i have to buy is flowers...I buy six of them, dozen is too much.

I might actually do something I heard/read about awhile back...

A guy buys a dozen roses for his girlfriend and while delivering the roses he tells her that he will love her till the last rose dies. A little heartbroken at the comment she accepts the roses. After a few days the roses start to dwindle a bit and she can feel her heart sink a little bit. After two weeks all but one of the roses are now dead, the last one looks almost in perfect condition still, so she goes up to and takes a look at it. She then touches it and to her surprise...its made of plastic.
It is 2 Cents or .02 Dollars...NOT .02 Cents!

lol. Did that two years ago. She still has the rose on her dresser :)

This year however, we are over 3,000 miles apart, so I can only send her things as a token.

I'm going to sneak a card into her backpack with my message written in code. See, she likes puzzles and all, so I figured that this would be the easiest way to let her know that somebody likes her, Harry Potter obsession and all.

I also have been avoiding Valentines gifts...  For over a decade now, I take (my now) wife for a a nice dinner on the 12th of February.  As it happens, we had our first date on the 12th of Feb.  So, I can take her out for a good meal (which I also enjoy)...  Score points with her for remembering the anniversary of our first date  (the points are HUGE)...  And dodge the worst bits of the whole over marketed Valentines day thing...  Valentines day seems awfully silly after celebrating something a lot more personal, such as a first date.

The exact reason I set our wedding date at Feb. 12th.  :aok  So that means today's our anniversary, better go get a card. :bolt:

You are how old again??? WTF man don't answer that one you aren't old enough to have a long distance girlfriend or even a short distance girlfriend. As the following quote says...."Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory lasts forever."--Shane Falco (Keanu Reeves)

Now go find a strange chick for the weekend and tell her you love her too...then dump her butt after you get to 2nd base.

BUT NEVER and I MEAN NEVER spend money for a holiday on a girl you are dating in high school other than dinners and movies because you gotta eat and entertain yourself as well. That holiday money is wasted and will never return.

I'm in the boat of "only wants friendship," so IDK what to even get her.  So...I'm getting her nothing  :lol

Ditto.  She feels the same, which is a welcome change from some past situations.  It must be the hopeless romantic in me, but I can do without the artificial imposition of an arbitrary date to tell me when I should buy flowers/chocolate/etc for someone I care about.  First date or wedding anniversaries are certainly more important, so don't forget either.   :aok

Um... yeah, I'm gonna throw that little statement out the window, because I have been happily tied to Ash for three years and going strong, so it's not some weekend fling.

Yes, I do take her to expensive dinners, and yes I buy her things, and she does the same for me, not because we feel we need to, but because we enjoy giving each other practical things or symbolic objects to reflect on. And we are very happy and have been for years, so I think I will stick to my method.

I dont get wrapped around the axle about V-Day trying to buy the perfect gift.

I spent the afternoon with my two little girls using construction paper, glue, and cutout heart shapes to make our own V-Day card as a gift.

For her, My wife absolutely loved it and its something she can share with them when they get older.

For me, keeps the kids busy for an hour or so  :devil  for some  :joystick:  Daddy time.....  :lol
