Powered USB hub for CH stuff
« on: February 14, 2010, 01:54:21 PM »
Well, I got my CH stuff.  I'm running a little low on USB ports though, so I was thinking about picking up a powered USB hub.  Can anyone make a recommendation?  Thanks in advance.

Hey urchin, long time no see. Im using a cyberpower hub, no problems or complaints here. Belkin seems to get good reviews as well.

Here are the top ones based on bestselling.  I have #11, the CablesToGo one.  Has worked good for me.

This is what I've used for 3 years and have not had a single problem.   If you have a laptop, the top portion separates.  I have 5 of the 7 used right now.

Get the "Cables to go" 7-Port USB 2.0 Aluminum Hub, Model #29563. Buy it through Amazon.com, Not through "Cables to go" or you will pay double. I have four of these and they all work well. Made of Aluminum and solid. Ketinkrad

just curious, but alot of people have recommended using an USB Hub for CH Product users.......

I have been using my USB stuff ( I think since August of 2008? ,  when ROLEX shipped it to me ) and have always used (3) specific 2.0 speed USB ports on the back of my Computer...... and have never had an issue

I use 5 total USB connections, 3 for my CH stuff, 1 for my keyboard and 1 for my Printer........ all work fine and I can go years without ever needing a Re-Calibration on my CH stuff......

could it be that certian MB specs or MB manufacturer's have more reliable power/data transfer abilities over others?

or have I just been Lucky.........

Both, TC.  And in some instances, a hub will cause issues under XP at least that you can solve by plugging the device directly into a computer port.

More importantly though, the power supply in the PC is probably the culprit in many cases where a powered USB hub helps.

Could be........................... ............................. ....

I have an old USB 1.1 Belkin ExpressBus 4-port hub that I have been using in self-powered mode (powers up from mobo cluster) on my CH USB Hotas since I bought it in 2001 on the following mobo's:

Asus P3E (Intel III Rambus mobo)
Intel 850 GB (Intel P4 423-pin Rambus mobo)
Abit TH7 II (Intel P4 423-pin Rambus mobo w/ onboard RAID controller)
Intel 865 PEARL (Intel P4 478-pin DDR mobo w/ onboard sound)
Intel 975 PZKL (Intel P4 478-pin DDR mobo w/o onboard sound)
Asus A8N-E (AMD 939 DDR mobo w/ Nforce 4 NB/SB)
Abit IP35 Pro (Intel C2D DDR2 mobo)
EVGA 780i FTW (Intel C2D DDR2 mobo w/ Nforce 780 NB/SB)-current setup.

Not 1 glitch/hitch in operation on any of these mobo's USB clusters. None in this configuration. I have never used this hub in powered mode since I bought it.

The 1st 5 mobos were powered w/ a PC P&C 510 TurboCool PSU.
The last 3 mobos were/are powered w/ a PC P&C Silencer 750 PSU.

This is my history of usage surrounding hub usage/performance w/ a CH USB HOTAS.

Something to mull over.

Hope this helps.

Yes, that is true in some cases in regards to the lower end motherboard manufacturers.
