New Intel i processors

I'm looking to buy a new computer but wanted to know if I should go with one of intels new processors?  They boast that they don't need a gpu.  Can anyone let me know if you think or know that I could run aces high on this barebone?

I would stay away from packaged deals like this.. although this is actually one of the better i have seen of late.
 I build my own pc's as well as those of friends. The thing i look at is what my budget is, how long between builds its going to be, the current/future technology, and look into chips that can be easily overclocked to give better performance. e.g. i have a q9400 2.66,but overclocked it to 3.6 and very stable, so i saved myself about a 100$ just by doing that. Also what are your future plans, is it just for gaming? what new games that are coming out that your interested in playing? will your rig have enough power? etc. If i'm on a budget i usually buy the low end of a new technology because it will allow me to reuse some components in future builds.. Think through some of those things and if you need some help send me a PM. In terms of those new chips i haven't really looked into them,but if it says doesn't need a gpu then thats a first for me, i would think it needs some form of onboard video.  



edit: i found some info on testing you should read,seems that it will run fine but the traditional cpu/gpu is best imho.

It will run AH, but only on very low settings and resolutions. If you want to have at least a little eyecandy or run it on higher resoulutions, you have to have a discrete video card.

The video chip is built into the CPU and is very, very low end.  It also means you cannot upgrade to a better video card.  These processors are for OEM's so they can offer cheap computers.  If you want to do anything graphically intense they are not a good choice.


They are fine if all you want to do is run Power Point presentations, or some other Microsoft Office application, and that is all you ever expect to do with your computer.

I like how that case, cpu, and ram could be great building blocks for a gaming CPU.  But with the other parts its like going to that job interview with no pants on.

I know.  HP pushed Intel for these CPU's.  They will soon be the standard CPU in an HP computer.  Unfortunately, I am still a few years away from retiring.

Choker the i5-750 is the same price and is very nice. If it's using less than all 4 cores it auto-overclocks itself under load as long as temps aren't too high. Combine it with a decent video card and you'll be very happy.

If there is, Intel is sure being tight-lipped about it.  Coming from HP, my bet is they will not allow it to be disabled in many of their models.
