No, what he's referring to is a function that's built into every FF stick I've seen - and one that I disabled on mine pretty much as the first mod to them.

If you take your hand off the stick, it goes to a "default" tension that stands the stick upright in the center position.

That sounds extremely annoying.

Oh well, there goes that theory, then. Back to the old wishful drawing board.

i actually tried it unintentionally with my MS FFB. Basically I used the normal MS II before and didnt know i had to plug the FFB into the wall AND the computer oO. So basically it would just flop around all the time. Could never auto take off or walk away from the pc and had an extremely loose feel to it while in flight.  I would say it was very annoying.  :aok

But either way, take your hand off, and it's not going to "sticky" where it is like you are envisioning - every FF stick I've ever seen is going to autocenter.

Not the old CH Force FX, which in my opinion was the best FF stick ever made.

Wasting money on a Saitek.

Masher, I do understand that people have had problems with certain Saitek products... but others have had problems with CH, Logitech, MS, and what not as well.

I personally used to have an X45 that only failed because I lubed it with WD40 (and even that took two years of doing to cause problems) and the X52 I currently use still works like brand new after over two years of moderate-to-hard use, and I still have no problems whatsoever with that stick.

Perhaps quality wise they are in fact inferior to other brands, but really that's a judgment call on the user's part.  Now it's possible you've had bad experiences with Saitek in the past, but I have a feeling that you've never even seen an X65 in person (let alone touched or used one) so your comments about this are completely out of line and not even relative to the topic of this thread in the first place!

Regardless of how you feel about that particular brand, I was just pointing out an example of a pressure operated stick.

Not just wasting $$$ on Saitek but look who makes it for Saitek....MadCatz.  Mentioned in another thread, MadCatz products are crap.

I've owned 3 X45's and an X52.   Dang right my comments are relative.   $500+ for a cheaply Made for Saitek by even cheaper MadCatz x65?!   :rofl   All I need is the CH Pro Throttle to complete the CH Trifecta.   I should have "done it right the first time".   I fail to see how the quality of the x65 would be "anything but the same or worse (because of MadCatz)" than any previous HOTAS Saitek has made.

Night after night on Green text it's the same thing.   "I have a stick that's spiking."   Someone responding: "Is it a Saitek?"   The answer 9 times out of 10: "Yes".

What/who is/are MadCatz?

Actually, I think the answer 9 out of 10 times is "Is it Logitech?" "Yes" "Get a new stick"

Their a controller/peripherial manufacturer for mostly console related stuff.  During my thankfully brief tenure there, they tried to break into the PC market with their Panther XL joystick that combined a joystick and a trackball aimed mostly at the FPS crowd.  It didn't do so hot (controller actually worked well but kept breaking down) they got out of the PC market and concentrated mostly on console stuff.  The majority of their product is made in China with some manufacturing in Mexico (not sure if they still have their Tijuana plant).  They also have some off brand stuff but for the most part, their stuff sold under the MadCatz brand is shoddy and over priced.
