Anyone ever have this happen?

Its pretty odd, and has me slightly concerned. I was out in the cold yesterday doing some target shooting with a 243, and when I looked down the scope I noticed the crosshair will sort of fade in and out and be pretty much blurry.

So very awkwardly I take a look down the scope with my other eye and same thing. My buddy was there and asked him to take a look, and he said it was fine.

Ive looked through three different scopes and same thing. Some more noticable than others. I do wear glasses, and I havent been to the eye doctor in about a year but now will be sure to see whats going on.

So, anyone else ever have this happen or have an idea of what might be happening?

To my knowledge I dont have it. My dad does, so its something they like to keep tabs on.

Some sort astigmatism (every eyeball has it) that might have progressed?   Diabetes or Aged-Related Macular Degeneration stick out at me.

EDIT:   Are you adjusting the rectile and keeping some distance from the scope?   (gotta ask and eliminate this one)

Sounds like you're focusing on two things at once. If you focus on the target, especially one at distance, the crosshair will blur and visa versa. Try again and make a deliberate effort to decide which you are focsuing on. See how it feels deliberately focusing on the crosshair and ignoring the target or the other way round.

I shoot with both eyes open, whether it be a handgun or a scope.   I wear glasses and have never had this happen.

I've seen it done like that before, for some reason with a scope i much prefer one eye only. Some people advise me to shoot both eyes open as it's better, I do practice it sometimes. I'm only talking air rifles in the UK of course but the scope part should be no different eh?

Karaya, yeah ive tried adjusting it and have tried out different distances. Doesnt seem to have any impact though. Thanks for the suggestions.
