Base staus...
« on: February 27, 2010, 06:32:52 PM »
First, with specifically V bases, ak-Up or Down should be added to the status, to let you know the vulnerability of a base. Secondly, Fighters and bombers should not be listed on V-bases as available on the status...?  :salute

I believe you can find out base status by right clicking on it's icon on
the clipboard map and clicking on the base status link.

I can understand why you'd like to know if ack was up or down but why should you know? I understand it's a wish, just curious about how you think it would make Aces High better for everybody.

Obviously I know how to check a bases status as I mentioned that in my wish. However, if someone is keeping an eye on a v-base, gets busy, then checks it again, it could've been de-aked and then an M-3 could sneak the base, as we all know. Sneaking a v-base is usually too easy as is. It's not that I don't like sneaking a base now & then, but I know if I was watching a base I would check the ak if I could now & then. IMO  :salute

Some things are better left a mystery until you GO there to find out for yourself, or coordinate with someone else.

I have to give this a -1.  If a base is of concern to you then you have to spend time monitoring it.  I know how you feel, I belong to map-watchers anonymous myself.

To add to this, I feel that the status of an enemy field, should not be able to be displayed on the clip board map. Part of the fog of war. only way to know if status of enemy field is to check it out, by flying over it.

Probably, but resistance spies during WWII seem to have had a pretty well organized information distributing network. They could have relayed information regarding how badly damaged a base was. High fliers could have brought back good intel as well.  :salute

One thing I wish is that the base status of a CV showed that fighters/bombers were down if the CV was sunk. Nothing like flying a sector to a CV on low fuel with kills just to find it's sunk.
