The armament of N1K2.
« on: September 21, 2000, 01:12:00 PM »
I want to fix the total of the ammunition of N1K2.

The number of the ammunition of the primary gun has 200 rounds,
and the secondary gun has 200 rounds, too.
The primary gun has 250 rounds in the case of overload.

 250~2 { 200~2 900.

N1K2 has 900 rounds.

These data are written in the IJN official manual of N1K2.

The mistake which is like AH is described to some literature.
I guess that it is because the mistake is described in the Japanese book.
The name of the book is 'Famous airplanes of the world (NO.53)'.
The Japanese name is 'Sekai no kessakuki(NO.53)'.

P.S.
I can not speak English.
I translated into English with PC.
I am sorry if these are funny sentences.

Primary guns-250 rds. X 2 =500 rds.
Secondary guns-200 rds X 2 = 400 rds.

Total=900 rds. (Don't forget, you have 4 guns)

Yes, N1K2 has 4 guns.

But, N1K2 of AH has 600 rds.

Primary guns-200 rds X 2 = 400 rds.
Secondary guns-100 rds X 2 = 200 rds.

Total = 600 rds.

I hope N1K2 of AH has 900 rds.

tonbi,
Can you find a way to post a copy of that manual, or images of it.  An english translation would be nice as well.

That would, I think, help HTC greatly in evaluating your information.

This looks like it would come out as a gun loadout option for the N1K2:

4 20mm with 200 rounds per gun

or:

4 20mm cannon with 200 rounds for each inboard cannon and 250 rounds for each outboard cannon.

I looked at the pages...one small question...

are those Type 99 1 cannons or Type 99 2 cannons?

The two are different as night and day.

Type 99 1's are based on the MG FF, and the Type 99 2's are a much more powerful version (different casing and all Between the ShVak's and Hispanos, Ho-5's being the real monsters)

So, maybe that's why it holds 900 rounds of 20mm?
