My question is this...  What would the Canadians have done for the closing ceremony if the US had won the Gold Medal game?

Seemed a bit arrogant to design such a large portion of the closing ceremonies around a Hockey Victory...

Just saying...

It really do not matter.  This was the best winter Olympics i have seen in my 30 years.  Canada did a find job of hosting it and there was a lot of exciting competitions.  Especially the men hockey game.

1. We are hardly arrogant.
2. Hockey is life.

What more do we need to explain?

as a complete neutral I watched this game last night.  I don't know nothing about Ice hockey and i think this was the first time i've sat and watched an entire game.

I felt like the Canadians were the better team.  The Americans relied heavily on their inspired goalie and canada hit the post twice during that 2nd or 3rd period can't remember which.

The Americans hustled more and got stuck in to their opponents but I felt they would have robbed the canadians had they scored in overtime.  Credit to the canadians for stepping up and taking the game to the US in overtime you could see that they must have had one hell of a team talk at the end there.

It was a great final to watch though.

"you almost lost"

Oh please, are we in Elementary School?  :lol

Most of the great games in sports have been close, thats what makes them great?

The 1972 Canada vs Red Army tourney was won by a single goal.
The "Miracle on Ice" 1980 score was 4-3.

Canada lost only one game in the 2010 hockey tourney (to the USA) and the USA only lost one game in the tourney (to Canada).

:salute to the USA Team, it was a great game and a great series.

Canadian disclaimer....
It was a great win for Canada because this same US team had beaten them badly a few days ago. And done it with the play looking the same, the canadians passing well and shooting well but the US hanging in there with grit and hitting hard and the goalie standing on his head. You could see the canadians had adjusted to the US goal tender, they were taking shots from a distance and putting them in the air, in the first game the US goalie stopped everything on the ice, and the canadians never seemed to adjust to that.

To me the story of this game was security, I have friends that were involved and to have nothing go wrong is fantastic, but it cost a fortune. I know an RCMP guy who pulled 13 hour shifts at an intersection in Whistler without relief for the whole games, every day. And the US winter program coming to maturity. Canada still held on but the rest of the world was pretty much raped by the US medal haul. The whole difference between 7? US medals in Calgary and 35? in vancouver came out of European pockets. And they love winter olympics. Maybe it was just a rare group of US athletes this time around, but I don't think so, I think they are getting very good at these winter sports. And have a very good program in place.

Lol.... I just hate seeing people crowing when the most stacked roster that team Canada has ever had has a horrible tourney.  Crowing about how it's "their game" etc.

Anyone who thinks that Team Canada had a good tournament is flag blinded.

Thanks for the humbling remarks. You're too keen on this subject for the rest of us. Wish I knew as much about the sport as you do.
