Supermarine Griffon Spitfire

This spitfire the Spitfire F.Mk 22 is dangerous I know we have lots of spitfires but this one just about tops it.
Powerplant,One 2,050-hp Rolls Royce Griffon 65 liquid-cooled,12 cylinder in-line piston engine with two-stage supercharging,driving a five-bladed Rotol propeller.
Length 32 ft 11 in,Wingspan 36 ft 11 in.
Max weight 10,086lb
Performance
Max speed at 25,000 ft 449mph,Service ceiling 45,500ft
Armament
Four 20-mm Hispano Mk5 cannon plus one 500-lb bomb under the fuselage and two 500-lb bombs underwing,or up to four 300-lb rocket projectiles underwing.(6 rockets)
This is a deadly aircraft of course this Spitfire F.Mk 22 spitfire.

People are allready crying rivers of tears about our 1943 Spitfire XVI, guess how much they will cry about a 1945 Spitfire XXII  ;)

No, but the Spitfire F.21 did, it sank a German mini-sub.

Still irrelevant.

Also, OP, the Spitfire Mk XIV we have in AH is powered by that same Griffon engine.

not bothered about 4 x 20 mm   but i would like  the last spitfire to see action to complete the series for late war.   I mean I can't catch ponies and 190's ya know, it is a real drag and gets me down.

I would like umpteen boost and uber octane fuel also.   This can be perked!   :banana:

Sure Bruv this is the Spit you want:

Between March 1945 and February 1946 a batch of F Mk 22 Spitfires were delivered to the RAF. The F.22 saw the return, again, of the "tear drop" canopy, but it was virtually the same aircraft as the F Mk 21. The new Mk 22 had severe vibration problems and a much modified tail fin was introduced. Many Mk 22 Spitfires were used by the Auxiliary Air Force but were phased out and replaced by the new Vampire and Meteor jet fighters.

Total production approx 282...no easily found record of combat.

I believe the MK XVIII was the latest model that was used to any real extent, but I'm not totally sure on that, but I would have to give the 22 a thumbs down, it came into action,barely, right before the war was over.

The F.22 saw no action.  The last mark of Spitfire to see any action in WWII was the F.21, and it saw extremely little.
