That's why...
« on: February 24, 2010, 02:19:22 PM »
... I keep playing this game.

Suppose you take your early/mid war fighter and fly it to an enemy base. Suppose you find a Pony D that comes to your six and try to kill you. Suppose he misses, but, awe and behold, instead of "extending" 6k yard and waiting for you to focus your attention on something else, he mix it up with you. Suppose you two engage each other in a rolling scissor all the way from 6k feet to the ground and add to that that, incredibly, despite the lot of people around, almost no one bothers you. Even more incredibly, for these days, despite his plane is heavier and he's slowly losing the fight, despite his ack is just few yards away, despite he could be screaming for help on range, the Pony pilot stays in the scissor and keep fighting, instead of putting the nose down and run away as the average Pony pilot would do... Gimme one fight, just one fight like this for each time I log in, and I'll be happily paying my fee and playing the game for another 10 years!

My only regret is I saw too late my country mate coming to stop him from picking my wonderful adversary.

SESaber, I salute you, thanks again for having made my last night in AH world worth it! :salute

(Maybe when you'll see the movie, you'll think that the fight is nothing exceptional, and, after all, it's just an ordinary rolling scissor. But, believe me, it's so hard to find a fight like that in MAs, nowadays, that it really made my night!)

I never understood why people feel the need to jump into a fight and go for the kill steal. Both of you guys were flying well and I saw three guys come in to try to claim the easy one... I'm glad one augered like a chump!

Was a great fight to watch -- it's a rare occurrence in a FURBALL in the MA to have a 1 on 1 for a minute... A shame someone came along to clear your twelve.

Times like this, we tend to forget something about kill steals........  It's only a "steal" if it was stolen.  In other words.... I have asked for help before, I have been asked for help before and........  After watching a film or two, it is sometimes clear to me that my enemy asked that other stick for "help" too.

Well, I had to admit, when I heard the boom at my shoulder, I had a chuckle and thought "at least I'll die with a kill!" :)

Dude, you just don't understand.  This is a kill or be killed game.  Did they worry about stealing kills in WWII?  Certainly not!

What matters in the end is how many kills you can land.  I mean, like, that's the final reward.

Oh, make no mistake. I am not confusing scenarios where someone assists a friendly to clear their six. I'm talking about working your bellybutton off in a fight, working for a shot and having somebody scream in for an easy kill when your bandit is slow and committed is aggravating. The guy has no problem walking away from that engagement, safely with his E, and happy about his "clear" while his friend can only wonder why in the hell he bothered trying so hard to win a fight with no reward.

Gianlupo had the guy in several crossing shots and yet even though he was in control - someone else claims the kill? Doesn't seem right to me.

Also, SESaber seemed more than capable of putting up a great fight on his own... I can't be sure if he asked for help... but it didn't seem like it as he kept fighting hard. The auger was priceless :)

I bet he didn't. Call me fool, but I think you can understand when your opponent does that: in the case, he usually show you his six and try to set you up for his saviour.
