Seriously?  What a waste of time.  I went in there tonight expecting a fun time in GV's.....wanted something different... thought that might be it.

Boy was I wrong.

Spit 8 vs 109G2?  Seriously?  What are you smoking?

Not one of the 17 players was in a GV.  11 Spit8's circling the closest field, vs 6 G2's.

Don't waste my time again.  I can see why that arena is a ghost town.

Kind of over the top there Moray lol.

But yep, Jager is new at it, and got played. That's how they learn over there but I doubt he'll ever fall for it again. Such a shame too, that it happened on TT night when a lot of guys say they're looking for something different. Oh well.
Easy in-game again.

Yeah, I felt bad about it afterwards.  I was really annoyed.

Nothing personal.  Just not what I was expecting.

ok, now its my turn.
1. this was a week that was supposed to be someone else's setup and i thought i'd be a good guy and try something different. i wanted to try an experiment, and i was given the blessing by the staff and i went with it.

2. the idea was to promote a tank war, which i have been doing but, also not discouraging aerial battles either because there are those of us that like dogfights and those of us who like tanks, etc, etc.

so bearing that in mind, i set up the arena so if people wanted to dogfight, the planes were fairly well matched and if not, the bases were close enough for some serious tank battles.

i also chose planes that could only drop 1 500lb'er so as not to over-whelm someone trying to take a base with GV's if they so desired. this covered all aspects of the setup.

3. monday night the place was lousy with tank battles. Nothing heavy but it was a great night. was 4V4 and everyone had a good time.

4. the entire setup was an experiment and not a historical match-up, but rather a match-up in fairness. the sides are pretty even, the vehicles used are matched up pretty well and so far other then you, no one has really had a problem with it.

now in response to your comment, Abraham Lincoln comes to mind. "You can't please all of the people, all of the time". that being said most of the people, that have been in the AVA this week, have had a good time in there. I'm very sorry it was not what you expected. I strive to do better, but i cannot control what people want to do.

I never at anytime said it was just a tank battle, if so there would be no planes in there at all. I am just trying to encourage participation while at the same time, appealing to the different playing styles.

Again i apologize for not meeting your expectations, but fortunately, most everyone else has had fun in there, and that's all that counts.

thanks and have a great day!

Hey, the idea was appreciated.  It really was.  I didn't go into the AvA for any other reason than to think something called "TANK WARS" would be, well, a TANK WAR.  How snobby of me.

Like a bad infomercial, I got sucked in by the promise of something which was not to be.  I won't waste my time again.

Best of Wishes on any future endeavors.

Jaeger has done a great job in AvA.In the year or so Ive been playing, he has always tried to get ppl into the arena. I salute Him For that Big time. With the execption of FSO I havent seen anyone else try to get more fun out of the game ! Just my 5cents worth

Let's see...  You're wasting time playing a cartoon game, then you waste more time ranting on the cartoon game's BBS.   :headscratch:

Still a bit harsh I'd say. There has been some good GV action in there this week.

How can jaeger guarantee that's what everyone will be doing at the time you happen to log on?

If he had disabled all aircraft, he'd probably be fielding complaints about that.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I admire the AvA staffers, they just don't get the appreciation they deserve.

here's my two cents worth, I expect some change back  :D  Anyway, It is not my intent to incite or flame anyone's post or opinion, If I do I apologize in advance as I tend to respect all players opinions or points of view unless they decide to go over Niagra falls in a barrel with it.  So here goes........ It hasn't been until recently(last cpl of tours)that I really began to populate the AVA.  I did this for a number of reasons, sometimes I just "need to get away" from the MA's.  I have not had a problem finding a fight in the AVA, now I'm not saying that sometimes I don't have to sit in there for twenty to thirty minutes before a couple of guys show up.  But they "always" show up and Ive had some amazing fights in there.  Having said that, when I saw the "Tank Wars" announcement I was jacked about it.  The setup was well thought out, I spoke with Jaeger over vox the first night and I understood what he was trying to achieve...... "something just for fun".  Well that is what I had.  Sunday and Monday was alot of fun, I wasnt able to stop in the last few nights because of work and kicked some rocks because real life got in the way of my escape.  But I have found this much to be true, a person's perception is their reality more times than not, and that is why I respect the views expressed on the BBS.  The setup could and I stress could have been an epic tank battle.  The setup was there for it, the Vbase being set in the middle of a mini strat could have led to some intense urban tank warfare.  It was fun just with the four vs. four we had.  Having said that it can not be the fault of the staffer who set this up, he did his part, he promoted it, he built and unfortunately they players didn't come in the numbers that were hoped for.  To those that came in and it was not what you thought it would be, all I can say is that at some time in the future you stop in again and give it a whirl.  To the AVA staffers I applaud and support your endeavors, it is appreciated.  Keep up the good work.   :salute

Like I said, it did come off a bit harsh, but I am not one who pulls punches or holds my words.  It really was disappointing, and it's just another in a long line of disappointments in the ground portion of this game.

I like to mix it up and have been tired of the MA BS....the lifespan of a tank is about 2 minutes anymore in the MA. I thought somebody had a great idea there in the AvA.  It simply wasn't there.

It was a great 30 minutes.....upping 109G2's against Spits just circling the bases that were close.  I guess, if that's what you consider fun.  I don't.

If you like it, great.  I would simply say that calling an arena "TANK WARS" where there isn't one person in a tank.... prolly not going to get a great review from those who show up looking for ground action.

Whatever.  Flame away...tell me how wrong it is to expect one thing and get the complete opposite.  :aok

Moray, in no way am I attempting or trying to flame your opinon or expierence in the AVA.  That is not im my intent, in fact the opposite is true.  It is true in the fact that I completely understand where you are coming from.  I wasn't in there the night you stopped in.  And yes, I agree, "Tank Wars" would lead me to believe that would have been and should have been what you would have expierenced when you stopped in.  It would have been great if the seventeen or so players would have been on the ground instead of in the air.  I don't know what happened between the start of the week to the middle of the week to cause the player base to shift from the ground to the air.  I am actually disappointed that you didnt get to take part in the ground war portion of the setup.  That is why the arena is not frequented like I would hope it would be.  Players stop in expecting one thing, and they get another.  But ultimately it is the players role in the arena that either makes the staffers endeavor a success or a failure.  I have nothing but respect for your feelings and view for what transpired in the areana.  All I was stating was that it is not fault of the developer.  You already stated your initial post was harsh, in my opinion that was a stand up thing to do, when you didn't have to. In a gaming community of mostly face less individuals it showed me that you at least have integrity in a community where most would argue that it doesn't really matter.  So for what it is worth Moray  :salute to you sir.

i think the point is taken. everyone has a right to air their feelings. moray37 didn't like what he saw and made it known. Thats his right. he admitted that he was a bit harsh and manned up to it. That's much more then what most people would do  :salute. lets not dwell on it, and just go on.

unless the map gets changed, Axis are getting beat, come on axis, let go kick some butt tonight before the Allies even know whats going on!! Kill the Red guys, and have fun doing it.

for those of you who think the setup is one-sided because of the Tiger, think again. the Sherman will kill the tiger every time with one hit. whether a bug or not, ill take it!! now get in there, and kill some red guys

Tank Wars Rule!!
