2.) How do you stop people from getting from behind you? It always happens to me, and I always end up losing.
3.) Can you switch teams?
4.) How do you talk? Do you have to like set up your device or anything?

1.) What kind of joystick should I buy?

That is an often debated question, how much are you willing to spend?

2.) How do you stop people from getting from behind you? It always happens to me, and I always end up losing.

Tactics, tactics and more tactics. Start at the trainers web site, http://trainers.hitechcreations.com, then come to the Training arena, fly, ask questions, listen, absorb, test, and practice.

3.) Can you switch teams?

In the tower, click "oclub" then "Change country" then choose team.

4.) How do you talk? Do you have to like set up your device or anything?

AH has 2 voice radios, F12 talks on range (anyone on your side you can see) T talks on channel. (has to be tuned to a # channel, squad channel, or person. Start by finding sound recorder on your computer, make sure your mic works, sound is good etc. If you have any issues, deal with them here first. In game you can tune yourself. hit /  key to open the text buffer. there are 5 small boxes on top of the long bar. Click in the scrollbar of the "V" box, on the far right, backspace to clear, type your name in, enter, press T to transmit. Should hear yourself.

5.) Whats the best plane to use for a starter?

Hard to beat a spitfire, Stay out of the 14-16 till you've been here a bit.
Spit 8 is a very good bird, does it all well.

"Then out spake brave Horatius, the Captain of the gate:
To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

Hi Kwall,

regarding the joystick, make sure at the minimum that any joystick you buy has a "twistable" stick (for rudder) and a throttle slider. This is of course assuming you don't already own a separate throttle or rudder pedals, which I think is a pretty safe assumption.

Constant manipulation of rudder and throttle are absolutely essential for flying your craft to its potential, and you can find a decent joystick with the twist feature and throttle slider for $20-$30. Once your AH addiction kicks in, then you can shell out for a more expensive one.

Both at WalMart, both under 50$.

Looks like they've pulled the ST-290 from the shelves, although Amazon still has used ones for around 25$.
