split Arenas setup idea
« on: March 09, 2010, 06:36:17 PM »
Posting on another board I came up with this idea.

Euro and Pac specific arenas. With Titanic tues being a combination of the two

then

Get rid of early and mid war and replace them with a furball arena with no base captures allowed and a GV arena base captures on but with no aircraft allowed

Yanno the more I think about it the more I kinda like those ideas

Euro and Pac arenas with tues being Your badarse planes against our badarse planes. (2 country Euro against Pac)

Furball only arena. No GVs, no basecapture

And a GV only arena with no lancstukas,or photon torpedo equipped IL2s and the ability to basecapture.
If done right, with multiple choosable spawn points to a base  Might even move the GV game away from whackamole spawn camping and more a fire and movement thing like it should be.

So when Euro is full, I'm stuck to PAC?

And why do you have to "get rid of EW & MW" ?

Seen either of them filled to overflowing lately? LOL

But they can keep them too if its possible and the demand is there.

And yea. if Euro is full you go to Pac. And vise verse.
Not to worry. Other then German and some Russian iron. There are quite a few of the more popular planes that served in both theaters

Just fly a Ki-61. It's the 109s cousin that eats paste and licks the windows. :noid :bolt:

So if you are a player flying American planes (particulalry 38s or 51) you won't have any problems with this setup.

But if you are one of the many that mainly flies German iron, or Japanese machines... bad luck?

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

If that's a criteria, we have to remove AvA first  ;)

I was just joking :)

But no, AvA is nothing for me. Short icon range was bad enough to stay away, so no icon isn't exactly what I would call a better incentive ;)

Just set arena caps to 400 where they should be anyway IMO. Then getting into either arena shouldnt be a problem

So long as you leave MW as it is I'm fine (and the 20-30 MW locals would likely agree).  However, I can see how this would be a "bad" idea.  I say that because the two new arenas would be unbalanced, thus the majority of players would likely want to fly the side with the advantage.  Look at the planes we have: American - P-51s, P-38s, P-47s, F4Us, P-40s, P-39s, etc. vs Japan with A6M5b, A6M2, Ki61 and Ki84 (may have missed 1), but 4-5 planes vs the 20 or so that America has?  Then again the Euro/German set would be a bit more balanced.  I just see the Furball arena/base-taking arenas being far more populated, but again I don't fly LW so I am just guessing.  Just seeing how would unbalanced plane-sets be overcome before we get a more diverse set?  (Playing devil's advocate) :)

He didn't say anything about making it Axis vs Allies, but it is still a fundamentally flawed idea.  The Pacific arena would mostly be US aircraft vs US aircraft with a light sprinkling of British and Japanese aircraft for flavor.

Sorry, I must have misinterpreted.  It was early. :)

Until the numbers are 401/400, 52/450.

Wouldn't be any whines then....
