WWI Frame rates around the new "Airfields"
« on: March 10, 2010, 09:29:01 PM »
Since the rest of the terrain is standard, I think the new "Airfield" needs rebuilding with a view toward better frame rates. It's killing my frame rates, and those of others too from the looks of the bbs posts. Even with the trees, it makes no sense unless each tree was placed individually.
Easy in-game again.

I took another look at the fields.

That's a lot of verts and surfaces in those hangers!

Just curious if you have adaptive / transparency anti-aliasing on in your vid card settings. It could be the tree lines around the field.

I'm highly suspect that the hanger objects would cause a frame rate hit as they lod out at 200 and 400 feet as well as the majority those lods are drawn in a single draw call. (one object, same material, same texture.)

I have very low FR's while taxiing /takingoff. But then I tried to roll my Dr.I into a hangar and my system almost came to a halt, FR 0 (kinda 1 frame every three seconds).

Nope, anti-aliasing's off by default and I haven't changed it.
cc on the LODs, however, on my P4/ati9800pro rig, I haven't noticed any difference in testing with LODs. It's on my list for questions in our CM terrain forum because of my custom bridge.

I have noticed there's tire/ground noise I've never noticed before while rolling.
Easy in-game again.

Added a tire rumble sound and vibration when your plane is rolling on the ground.

From the readme.

No Transparency AA on my card either (turned Off). This is what I see between clicking the takeoff heading, and actually taking off (more textures than I thought. First hop after posting above was fine- but every subsequent hop was something like this).
