WW1 planes and lag
« on: March 12, 2010, 05:24:05 PM »
I guess the effects are more pronounced because things are moving slower?

last night, several times against 1 particular pilot we would get into a turn fight and be literally cockpit to cockpit.. if I looked straight up he was parallel, but he would shoot and I would take damage.  on my end he was nowhere even close to having a gun solution, he was no closer to getting on my 6 than I was his..   I noticed this a few times, then after I got shot down by a tree, the other guy that went in against him (same guy I was fighting) made a comment on country to the same effect "no way did he have a gun solution, how was he hitting me?!"

he didnt appear overly laggy or warpy or anything..

this happened consistently over the course of several engagements

It's the other way round. The effects are much less pronounced because the planes are moving much slower.

I'm getting a lot of lag or FR hits from the planes also..and it seems to get worse sometimes, don't know why yet.I just chalk it up to old computer.

(EDIT) I have not tried playing with the new patch today yet.

Well i have only spent about an hour total in WW1, but this was the first time (and only thus far) that I had encountered this oddness,  I would have written it totally off as an issue on my end till someone else who was fighting him made the same comment.

I think yes he was in a F2b but I don't think the rear gun can traverse to shoot directly up can it?  thought it was pretty limited,  if it can then he had a gunner riding with him and that explains everything.

that also makes 2 people in a FB2 lethal to the point that there is almost no point in trying to fight one.

The FB2 rear gun is very lethal, and has a pretty good traverse.

Take a look at this thread towards the bottom of page one.

1 person in a F2b is worthless compared to 2 people..   with 2 you can actifly dogfight turn and burn and then if the other guy manages to start even getting near your 6 he gets hosed by the gunner.   with just 1 pilot you have to level off then shoot.. useless, as soon as you do the other guy dives under your 6 where you can aim and your dead.

Nutt, if it was me (and I think it was, remember fighting ya), I am a constant 1-1.5 seconds behind everyone else due to my ping....normally it's not too bad but at times it can be seen greatly when I shoot or get shot at angles that look impossible from the other person's end.  It is normally stable looking but I hover out-of-sync until the game catches up and I warp into place...for a second.  But I have noticed the WWI servers seem to give me more trouble lag wise than normal, net status is spiky in both charts whereas MW is flat-lined....not sure why (I am the only one with this trouble?).

If it was someone else, well....glad to know I'm not the only one lagging. :P
