I find it hard to believe that a small compacted car like that is vary safe from a head on.

What do you think?

Not many cars I'd want to be in for that.

I suppose I should have said that despite its appearence, its as safe as most new cars out today.
LOOK EVERYBODY!  I GOT MY NAME IN LIGHTS!

The Cooper is the most ridiculous car on the road today.   Why would anyone want to drive such a silly looking monstrosity??

The vehicles looks like it came out of a Cracker Jack box, it is so toy like in appearance.   Besides, there are so many far superior autos that one can get for the same amount of money.  It is so small that it certainly would not be comfortable to drive on a long trip.

Really, what does it excel at?   Nothing that I can think of.   Can anyone come up with something?  Consumer Reports says that it is unexceptional for reliability too.   While it is not that bad, it certainly is not among the highly rated vehicles.   I certainly would not consider a Cooper to be a good investment.

I would rather have a silly little Cooper than a gay and ugly prius! Seriously, who would want to look like Al gore, WHEN YOU CAN LOOK LIKE MR. BEAN!  :rofl

I understand the macho man has to make fun of the Coopers to maintain status, and that is mostly due to ignorance.

It's not really a 'monstrosity', which to me is akin to something very large.   Looks more like an economy car to me.

I wonder how they perform in crashes though.

IDGAF what you drive.   If you go head on with a Semi in a Smart Car or an F-350, the Semi will win.   But your brain hitting your forehead will happen regardless of what vehicle you're driving.

Cooper's are just as safe as a Prius, if not safer (per the Toyota recalls).

Girls do seem to think that it is cute.  There are a couple of young movie starlets in Hollywood that drive them.  But for a man to drive a Cooper?   I don't understand how that could ever be possible.

In sharp contrast, many famous Americans drive my auto, including many of the hottest male actors in Hollywood like Leonardo DiCaprio, Orlando Bloom, and Owen Wilson.

I have often wondered why this question gets asked.  From where I sit, the safest crash to be in is the one you never were in.  I put more value on accident avoidance than what happens if I get hit by a train.  I have made use of that criteria for every car I have ever owned.  In 40 years of driving, it has served me well.

The one serious accident I have been involved in would not have happened had I been in a smaller, better handling car.  It happened in my parents 69 Ford LTD.

The Coopers handling prowess allows a person to get out of the way of trouble before it happens.  ALl you have to do is pay attention to your surroundings.  I suppose driving a motorcycle for 25 years also contributes to my awareness of surroundings.

I will also say, the Cooper is not for everyone.  It is more sporty car.  Pedals are set for wonderful heel and toe action.  The dead pedal is where it should be as well.  The seats are firm and the bolsters are functional.  They hold you in place really well (avoiding the leather clad option helps).  I would imagine heavier folks would be very uncomfortable in the car due to the seats sportier design.  The interior design is quirky, to say the least.  The large center mounted speedometer is a bit garrish.

The base car hints at its heritage.  6 way adjustable seats, that grip, and tilt/telescoping steering wheel with the heel and toe pedal placements says "drive me, drive me hard".  It is difficult not to have fun driving this car.
