CA Hardness
« on: March 16, 2010, 08:36:41 PM »
Have seen a CA sunk on more then one occasion by a 110G2 with rockets and guns only.

Was a CA really that easy to sink?

Ships are like ground structures: The amount of "damage" needed to destroy them is not neccessarily designed for "realism" but for gameplay. See town buildings and hangars. being gunned down by .50 cal planes. Also see the massively boosted damage value of guns (against structurs) compared to bombs.

In real life, I highly doubt it, most would have died to ack fire or CAP forces.

In AH, it only takes 1,000 lbs of ordnance or about four hits with a B-25H main gun.

Gamey for sure but legit within the settings of the MA...

Takes more than 4 rounds of 75mm to take out a cruiser.  4 rounds will probably completely take out all the guns but the cruiser will still be floating.

I would have said it takes 5 or 6 with the B25h main gun. It is easy to be "fooled" if the cruiser isn't smoking. That doesn't necessarily mean its at total possible health.

Also the B25h can start hitting that cruiser from 4k out, firing a main gun round aprox every 3/4's of a second. Normally giving you time for 6 or more rounds on target, and of course the last K in you have MG's you can add to that mix. So its really not that hard for a B25h to take out a cruiser with a single pass if he knows what he's doing.

And there's no one in the laser-guided manned guns....
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

if I'm in one of the 5 inch guns, you'd be lucky to get close enough to do any damage at all!  :D

It'd be nice to see some smoke come out of the support ships when it nears the end...oh and I thought both the DD and CA were 2K...if the CV is 8, I'd like to see the CA at 4 but I hear the CA and DD are one in the same setting.

I think HTC should restrict how far the manned guns can depress, because this WAS the case with the real guns. The small arms might still be able to get you, but if you can get close enough and hug the deck low enough the laser puffy would just shoot over you.

In relation to the 5inch gun that we have in game, Wiki this time is correct.
