SPAD XIII
« on: March 19, 2010, 03:19:08 AM »
The SPAD XIII was in more then 80 escadrilles on the western front 1917,it was a very fierce plane.
Powerplant
One 164 kW Hispano-Suiza 8BEc-cyliner Vee-type engine.
Performance
Max speed 139mph;service ceiling 21,815ft;endurance 2 hours .
Dimensions
Wing span 8.1m;length 6.3m height 2.35m.
Armament
Two 7.62mm(0.303in) machine guns.
This would be placed in the WW1 arena. There are more planes that are better then this one but this one we can start off slow and not get ahead of are selves.

This is definitely the plane I was most interested in (though 2 and 3 were the camel and the Dr.I).

+1... but I'd rather them flesh out more of the WWII set and get the damage model over there first before more WWI birds.

I'd like to have that plane, but honestly I would much more appreciate it if HTC would work on WWII

You've got to admit the WWI arenas need a Spad and a Newport (sp).  After all, what's WWI without the French?
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

SPAD, either VII or XIII, should be one the first additions to WWI whenever they get around to it.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

The 'monoplane fokker' was the E.V/D.VIII 'Flying Razor'. Only 289 were built, and they never reached the front in squadron strength, only in dribs and drabs issued out as 'extras' to some Jastas, and were only in action for about two months (late July 1918 onwards). It was fast (127mph) but unreliable and made no real impact on the war. They were notorious for wing failures in flight(the pilot who scored the first kill in it was killed two days later when his wing crumpled) and unreliable engines (and its engine was only 110hp), and saw more service after the war than during it (Poland especially, and some countries used them into the late '20s).

While I don't know about screwing WWII... I have to say, I agree with this post mostly.

Yeah, that was said out of hatred towards the DA type that have migrated to the WW1 arenas and LW arenas...

off the top of my head I'd say Albatross D3a, Dv and the Fokker DVII
