mythbusters ddint solve that one the military channel and some history how did they said that the angle of the british pilot's plane made it impossible for him to land a hit and the plae flew for another 30 min untill it crashed

I still think mannable guns are a good ides and i think WWI bombers like the gotha would be a good addition too

Mannable ack in a strictly aerial combat arena is a horrible idea.  As has been said before, if you can't compete, learn how to fight in the air.  Either that, or stay out of the arena.

Why do so many people want to screw up a good thing?

This is what I think. The one trick ponies can't cut it in there so they want a way to get payback on the people that work to attain some knowledge of BFM, and ACM.  :O

I thoroughly enjoy WW1 the way it is. If you want a pure dogfight, be it a 1v1, 2v2, 1v2, or a boiling, churning furball you can find it there. If you want a chance to come out the victor when three bad guys jump you WW1 is it. WW1 doesn't need manned ack for those that can't tell the difference from a yo-yo to an immelmann. The auto ack does a good job of protecting the airfield, and that's all that's really need.

If you are having a hard time fighting in WW1 maybe you're not as uber as you thought, and you might want to think about leaning some ACM.    :aok

Quoted for truth !

Eric, Hitech has already said that the WWI arena is going to stay a "fighter arena". No buffs, no man-able guns. Nothing that would inhibit fighter combat whether is 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, or the all mighty furball.  And I am thankful for that. It's a great place to go and get in a few fights before I have to hit the hay.

WTG HTC, well done !  :aok

"If you are having a hard time fighting in WW1 maybe you're not as uber as you thought, and you might want to think about leaning some ACM."

And you might want to think about learning some history and strategy; if you have little reason to fly and fight, why bother? I'm a WW1 aviation fan but you'll not see me in the AH WW1 arena. Why? Because it's just a mosh-pit for biplanes, not a simulation of the 1914-1918 war in the air.

Flying variety was enormous in those days 'when Pontius was a pilot'. The most important aircraft during the First World War were the two-seaters that carried out the photo reconnaissance that located enemy troops and artillery and spotted the fall of shot for the artillery - which was the greatest killer of men in the entire conflict. The single-seat fighters were needed to gain sufficient air superiority to enable their two-seater colleagues to go about their work without interference while denying the same privilege to the enemy. The fight went on all the way up from ground-level trench-strafing to interceptions at 20,000 feet or even more, while the big guns roared to the call of the spotters. Airships and bombers created havoc while the fighters climbed desperately to intercept them.

Unfortunately AH has missed the boat for now by creating yet another 'Knights of the Air' furballer's fantasia instead of the Great War simulation that would have attracted people like me - two-seater pilots and Poor Bloody Observers flying aircraft that would have made worthy targets that attracted fighter pilots like you. Never mind, I live in hope . . .

Cheers!

Who said it is supposed to be a simulation of the WWI war in the air?  And for that matter, who said the Mains are a simulation of the WWII war in the air?

well it is a military flight sim and you do simulate ww2 pretty closey

they should make a ww1 sim arena with the mannable artillery, bombers and "tanks" instead of paratroops they could have troop transport trucks

No its a flight sim game that uses planes and vehicles modeled after WWI and WWII equipment.  This is NOT WWI or WWII.

I never had any interest in WW1 until my first flight in there, so I know very little about weapons of that era  :)

the bolded sections are the key parts, the stuff we use just happens to look like WWII and WWI stuff.
