Now, if you could talk to Junky, you could probably teach that rather bold youngster how to fly NOE.
What are you trying to say here? :huh

easy there jonah. i started this thread for the reactions not to whine about the P51. i fly the P51D as much as i do my zeros... and yes perk planes have lessened the amount flying in the air... if the F4U1C was unperked itd be the only F4U flying...

thats not really a good hypthetical. if your talking about unperking high performance planes thats a whole different story. i thought you were talking about perking high performance planes like the pony or spit which are already not perked. i was just saying perks in the game have virtually no value or risk to spend considering how easy it is to earn the points, which is why i still dont believe perking lessens the amount in the air. maybe you dont see them as often as i do because you have to get real close to know what model it is sometimes.

Before the F4U1C was perked it made up like 25-30% of kills in the MA, IIRC. By comparison the Spitfire Mk XVI makes up.. what 6%?

This man makes a very valid point!!!   :salute

And looking up some simple stats back it up well!

pretty sure the tempest is noticed without being the 800 out :aok when a typh marker is a 20k coming down to 10k and then going back to 20k in less than 2 seconds then usually its a tempie... same with F4U4s when flown like they should. and motherland made a good point with the percentages <S>

Was more in the 15-20% range, and the planeset was much smaller.

That said, if it were unperked again it would make up a massive percentage of the sorties/kills for two reasons, 1) it has probably the best gun package in the game once ammo is accounted for (sorry Mossie, Tiffie, Hurri IIC, Tempest, Bf110G-2 and N1K2-J) and 2) it can be flown from carriers or airbases.

See the thread entitled "Karaya". I'm questioning why you subject yourself to judgment at the hands of the Priests of the Temple of High Self-Regard.

Disclosure: I already know the answer - but getting your perspective would also be illuminating.

Maybe.

Now, as for Ranger school, I'm going to assume you're in your 20's and offer you something from an old(er)person who thinks he understands a thing or two (and I'm sure you'll tell me if I'm crazy).

It's like this: One day, you'll be old and sitting there, thinking about your life. You'll think about things you've done where you hung it all out there, maybe pushed it too far or got in over your head. You'll be smiling when you think of those episodes. Then you'll think of the cases where you DIDN'T do that - and you won't be smiling.

So, - my opinion - if it's up to you, you've got to do this. Even failure, if the attempt is wholehearted, is no shame.

Failing to attempt, though, is corrosive to the integrity of that type of cat.

That's my read, anyway.

most on the thread actually dont care much for perking or non perking of spit16s. this thread i started was mainly for fun ideas :aok and for insight into what people wanted/didnt want. the spit16 is an INSANE ride when flown properly like many planes. but 3/4s of the spitXVI pilots havent flown more than a year in game let alone in the plane. therefore i say dont perk it because too many new people fly it and die in it vs the vets who choose not to fly the spitXVI either due to the noobishness or the lack of necessary skill to fly it or its bad reputation or, like me, dont fly it because they dont like the style of plane. and personally if i fly a spit i fly spit IX or V and both's rolls as a fighter can be filled by my zero.
