Movie re-makes - not all of them are bad
« on: March 23, 2010, 07:58:00 PM »
I've just finished watching the Coen brothers' re-make of 'The Ladykillers' on TV. Oh my word, what a splendid movie, I've laughed so much my ribs are aching.

 :rofl

Anybody else got a favourite 're-make'?

Found this one by accident.

The story of Hitler's last days in the bunker. Very well done.

The Ladykillers was a funny movie, a recent remake I saw that was good was The Crazies, that was a good remake.

But probably my favorite remake of all time, at least that I can think of right now, Man on Fire, great movie.

I noticed the Ladykillers remake was on but couldnt bring myself to watch it, the original is one of my top 10 movies ever. no way it could have the comedy/tension/charm of the original.

I went up to london in the 80s while still at school to visit a friend, we went out in islington ended up in a pub lockin til 3 in the morning, staggered out hopped a fence and took a short cut across some rough ground to get home. suddenly we were on top of a bridge looking at a view that seemed very very familiar. we stopped for a ... ahem ... smoke ... and it suddenly hit me where we were. we were behind mrs wilberforces house!

:D

fav remake: The Thing (John Carpenter), Solaris is pretty good too.

Downfall was great....But in actuality, Fegelin (Eva Braun's brother-in-law) got dragged to the bunker before he was shot.

Hey I forgot about The Thing!  That's one of my all time favorite horror movies.  I watched the original one but it was so weak to me that I put it out of my head.  Good call.

I've never seen the original of the Ladykillers, didn't even know there was one in fact.  I've seen the Cohen brother's one because I love those guys and their movies.  It was pretty good, but not great IMO.

I don't know if you saw the animated series they made of Spaceballs about a year ago, it could kinda be considered a remake, I think it aired on G4, it was horrible.

I seen the animated one and it wasnt even funny at all. Take a few key lines/scenes and repeat them over and over, add in some unfunny dry humor, animation, and theres the show. And that was just 30 seconds of it, which was enough to turn me off of it for good.

Now take the original cast (minus Barf) and make a part 2 of the movie "The search for more money", and theres something i'll gladly watch.

I think he probably just hit the 4 instead of the 3 as their right next to each other.
