Time to revisit ENY...
« on: March 24, 2010, 04:33:39 PM »
With the fixed limit Arena back into play, the ENY penalty system is showing its limits. LW2 is rarely populated which leaves just one arena to play in. Since this has happened, the rooks have consistently had the highest numbers. This has led to ENY penalties that routinely reach into the 20s. The problem with this is that when this happens, the Knits and Bish dont fight each other anymore, and the Rooks end up getting horded on both sides of the map even with their number advantage, but they are further penalized by the high eny. Some of you may say I should just switch sides, but that is not an option in my view because then i would just be part of the horde. This is especially bad late at night, when just a few extra players can cause wild swings in the eny penalty. Another thing this has led to is cheap perk plane prices for the other teams, so we have also seen a huge jump in 262s flying within the horde. Its bad enough fighting constantly in 2 and 3 v1's , but to have to watch out for picking 262s at the same time is just stupid. This happens about half the time I am in the Arena. One of the things I used to do when eny got bad was to switch arenas. That doesn't work anymore.

It's a mess now, but IIRC the capped arenas will eventually be back which will fix the issue.

A few days ago, Rooks had something like 40%, Bish 28% and Nits 29% of the numbers.  Rook ENY was 0.5.  :headscratch:

When I logged on last night, Knights had all the numbers and where kicking rooks (& Bish) all over the map for a few hours.
I went rook then, don't like all green and no red in all sectors.

Hardly, the rooks and knits both jumped the bish for the last 2 maps (one of wich lasted for 2 weeks). Bish held on for most of a day when you guys started hammering at us.

One time, both the knits and rooks attacked one of our fields and ignored eachother for the most part untill they had a cap, and proceded to hoard us together when any bish flew near.

But I do strongly agree with the second bolded section. Perks for the Bish consistantly have the M4 at 4, the Tiger at 25 or so, Tempests at 45-60, and 150-200 for a 262.

And as to noah, its pretty close as far as bish/knit go, but the rooks sometimes have an advantage of close to 50 players. And having an extra 50 guys to throw into the fight makes a huge difference.

Like I said in the first post, the times when its really bad, switching teams wont work because during those times the Knits and Bish are not fighting each other. They are concentrating their numbers on the Rooks, so even with greater total #'s the rooks are still getting horded. Switching to Bish or Knits in those situations would just mean instead of me being out numbered, I am part of the horde. There is no balance. This situation does not happen all the time, but It has been happening with much greater frequency since the patch.

Go bish, take 2 guys and attack a Knight base. One of you should get a hy 110 and attack the town. That will draw some defenders. ;)

Because while not specifically prohibited our CO frowns on squaddies putting themselves in a position to end up on opposing sides (his decision and I support it too) even if it is just the cartoon sky's sides. Too many folks in AH insist that people play the game to suit their own interpretation of what they see as fair or unthinkingly support Hitech Creations apparent desire for squads to disappear altogether. The logistics of moving an entire squad across multiple time zones and countries is not quite as simplistic as the "change sides" fanbois seem to think it is either.

To be completely honest no one in 71 Sqn. finds ENY deficits as anything other than an eagerly grasped challenge. We've become good friends over time and enjoy each other's company and the constant party line as displayed above is irritating for people who enjoy that sort of Corps d'Esprit. We'd all up D3As or P40Cs to hang out together if necessary too even in the face of overwhelming odds because we all think it's fun. Knights outnumbered? Great, bring it on!

Absolutely, but then that's why I used the word "apparent".
