Why is the 190a8 faster at sea level than a5?

Makes no sense to me. More drag on a8 should mean lower speed on deck? I assume they have the same engines and mw boost so what's the deal?

There's no solid evidence that MW 50 was incorporated into Fw 190A production.

I have a pilot's handbook for the A-8 which says it has a boost override control.  This lets it run more boost at low levels than the A-5.  Hence the speed increase.

How many times does this stuff have to get repeated? Maybe there should be a "Fw 190 in AH" FAQ or something?

"The Rules"

1. American planes must all be the latest and greatest models.

2. Russian planes must be modelled to represent the most poorly maintained and generally crappy example available.

3. German planes MUST always be undermodelled - or overmodelled, and then "fixed". But they get lots of variants.

4. Any British aircraft developed after 1942 is to be perked.

5. Japan - whaddaya mean, they had an Army Air Force?!

I know I'm starting to sound like the choir at a Baptist revival today, but ....

AMEN Brother Juzz, AMEN!!!

I just wrote a long rant (40mins typing) about the Anti-VVS bias in AH, to have the BBS eat it. But I will rewrite it. Oh yes, will I re-write it.
