How I miss an early war plane set ...
« on: October 22, 2001, 07:55:00 AM »
Forgive me, every now and then I have to post about it   ;)

We should have 109E, Hurricanes I and early II, Spitfire I and II, P40, F4F, a light RAF bomber, some early war torpedo bombers ... well, take a look at WB's 2.77 plane set and you'll understand what I mean. And not after years from now, but in some months.

Why? Becouse the most interesting, furious and *above all* balanced air battles happened in theatres like the Channel (1940-42), Malta, North Africa, Russia, Pacific (1941-43?)... before Axis air forces became (generally speaking) cannon fodder for USAF, RAF and Soviet AF.

Cannot imagine a serious 2 yrs old online sims without such a plane set. I dont know clearly HTC plans for the planeset but with the actual pace we'll have a decent early-mid war plane set in ... maybe ... 2 years. Toooo much!    :)

P.S.: I remember 1940-42 Warbirds Lite Scenarios every Sunday at 3:00pm Eastern Time (GMT+5, if I'm not wrong). They were good for US and Euro guys and were the most balanced and exciting events I played online. Great for squads training.

I agree.  Would love to fly F4F and P-40s against their contemporary opponents.  The problem is, how to do it?  Perk system won't help, RPS is a dirty word to the One Trick Ponies, and separate arenas are hard to populate.

I totally agree.  However, I think the place to see this will be the Combat Theater.  Combat *THEATER*, where it recreates a particular time and place.  But we need to get a more in-depth plane set first and work on the strategic bit in AH too.

At the Con HiTech said that they were going to give more attention to the early war in the next year.
