I'm with Funked on this one. While a nightfighter version would be fun for scenarios, its actual application would be very rare. So why not take a Zerstorer instead?

Nate, why take a Me110G model, when you could have a Me410? Its alot faster (391 mph), better defensive guns (if you wish to use them) and has one of the largest armament option packages (if not THE largest) I have seen for any WWII aircraft. And it carries some SERIOUS cannons.

There might be a hispano-armed nightfighter version of F6F though. Then it will be argued that it was modelled so because many were converted to carry hispanos in the field and did not carry the radar.

I wonder if the MG 131 in the rear of the gondola is not just another William Green fantasy like the mythical pair of MG 151's in the cowl of the Me 109?

Is this addressed to me?
Nobody is talking of aft gondola, but ventral guns in top rear of the cockpit.

This A-4 which FAF had with 20mm cannon, had bombadier stuff still there.

Ventral guns means belly guns - underneath the plane.  In the Ju 88 this means the gondola.

I've got probably 50 photos of A-4's in books and for the upper rear armament they all show a pair of circular armor glass mounts, each having a single MG 81.  Just like AH.

As for the MG FF, we must be talking about a different installation.  The one I am talking about had the MG FF installed in the front of the gondola, right where the bombsight is located.

Hmm, and when I've read about guns located in the back of the cockpit....  shooting at 6 / high

In the picture it had 20mm barrel sticking out in nose and description telling about few A-4s being installed with single 20mm.
I should find that book sometime...

I have a photo of a Ju 88A with a MG FF sticking out the "beetle's eye" glass, from the second lowest pane above the gondola.

Cool!  That must be what Fishu is referring to.  Man that would be a nice surprise for an HO enemy fighter.

I found a pic of the flex-mount MG FF!  Awesome.  We must have this.

I also got a tip on a book that has clear images of the different defensive weapon combinations on the A-4.  The book has been ordered, should be here Monday.  As soon as it arrives I'll scan that stuff along with pics of both styles of MG FF installation.

I'd still rather have that C-4 or a C-6 sans radar though.

I imagine the flex-mount MG FF was used for flak suppression, something the Ju 88A-4 will need if you want to be dropping torpedoes with it.

How about option of flex-mount MG FF (anti-fighter) or fixed mount MG FF (anti-ground, anti-ship)?  Looks like both were used.

I'd like to have more options for Ju-88, thats the reason why Ju-88 is so special
It's funny that A-4 has such many options..
13mm defensive guns, 20mm cannons sticking out of nose... and still it's A-4..
