History:
First flight 5 March 1943. The Meteor was designed to Air Ministry Specification F.9/40, the first official British requirement to be issued for a single-seat interceptor powered by a gas-turbine engine. After completing 8 prototypes Gloster built 20 examples of the Mk. I, 16 of which were delivered to the RAF. Their first operational success came on 4 August 1944, when Meteors from No. 616 Squadron destroyed two V-1 flying bombs over southern England. These were the first of many V1's to be brought down by the new fighters. The major wartime version was the Meteor Mk. III (280 built) which employed the Rolls-Royce Derwent engine giving a higher maximum speed of 793 km/h (493 mph) at 9,145 m (30,000 ft). Other versions included the Mk. II (with D.H. Goblin engines) and the Mk. IV (with two Rolls Royce Derwent 5 engines). [7]

S!

Bring on the Meteor.

But be aware, the 262 will chew it up and spit it out.  All the pilots who flew both, (Eric Brown, Adolf Galland etc.) said the Meteor was definitely inferior.  Only thing Meteor had going for it was more reliable engines.  And engine reliability doesn`t seem to be modelled for 262.

I drive by one of them every time I go flying - it's sitting in front of the Delta Jets Ltd hangar at Kemble airfield. They specialize on Hunters but have 2 complete Meteors - 1 is sitting in front of the hangar and another one is restored to almost flying conditions - last time I heard they did taxiing trials, not sure what the state of it is at the moment. They may have flown it by now :).

Enough of late war monsters.

Bring the Gloster Gladiator, Fairey Swordfish and Polikarpov I-16P.

Think it would be great fun to fly them.

Meteor Mk. III yeah baby!  Bend over 262 cheesemonkeys!!!

Before ya dismiss the Meteor, remember that almost all the ones that fought in WWII were Mk. III which had the Derwent engines with about 2000 lb thrust.

This gave it about the same thrust to weight ratio as the Me 262.  But the wingloading was something like 2/3 that of the 262.  So it should climb about the same, but turn much much better.  Of course the 262 had about a 50 mph top speed advantage, and apparently better maneuverability at high speeds.  A smart 262 pilot will use this to advantage.  But the 262 pilot who tries to dogfight a Meteor had better pack his parachute carefully.     :)

I think it will be a little like a matchup between a Spitfire Mk. II and Fw 190A.

Yeah, why not include the F-86 sabre and Mig 13 or 15 in AH 1.25. No I say bring a roling Plansett like in WB here so we can recreate the whole war (Fiat Cr 32, 42, Gloster Gladiator, Ki-10, Polikarpov I-5, I-15, I-153, I-16, He-51, and some good old bombers like the TB-3 and Ju-86) ww2 is not just 1942-45 (though u Yanks dident care before then, the Norwegian Airforce shot down Heinkel 111 and Bf109 and 110 in their old Gloster Gladiators in April of 1940) and not too mention the brave poles in their outdated planes, armed only with 2x7,7mm. The early war also poses and intresting perspectiv, even for a yank (ahh the Warhawk)

yes but if you get too many gladiators(or even biplanes for the matter)wouldnt you die very easy...plus getting outran by every chase.i know biplanes are cool   but hey think of how little hp they have...in a 190 you could kill a gladiator in 2 secnds   just think about it  :p
