I've got a fish story:

I grew up in northern MN in the arrowhead near the Canadian border.  As a kid I'd go camping almost every weekend during the summer with my parents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

We were camped at a remote lake this one weekend.  It was a mile long hike from the road to get there.  My dad and my uncle dragged a small aluminum boat and motor on a trailer out to the lake by hand to go fishing and to go see the ancient indian paintings on a cliff in a narrows at the far end of the lake.

So one late afternoon my dad and my uncle took off in the boat to go fishing.  In the meantime my mom was fishing too just standing on the shoreline.

My dad and uncle returned just before dusk beaming and holding up a 16 lb Northern Pike they had caught but, their enthusiasm was deflated when my mom pulled the 10 lb Bass she caught from shore out of the water.  Priceless.  I'll never forget that one.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Take a kid fishing, then listen to him brag for 1 hr drive home . . .

reminds me of when my oldest son was 6 or 7.  He, my wife and I all entered in a 3D archery meet.  As luck would have it, my son got 1st place in the kids division, my wife placed in women's and got a trophy, and of course I got nothing.  On the way home, the conversation went something like this:

son:  dad, I got the 1st place trophy, huh.
Me: yeah son, you did great - we're proud of you!
Son:  and mom got a trophy too, right?
Me:  yes she did, she did very well also.
Son:  but you didn't get anything, right dad?
Me:  Yup - but there were lots of people in my division. . .
Son:  gee, dad, you must really suck!

It was a LONG drive home.

Where abouts on the saginaw bay? I grew up there in Bay Port, personal best was a 11 pound 4 ounce Walleye caught between Charity Island and Sand Point. Took 2nd in the tourney for the day. :(  Spent many hours on that water, only thing i miss about the thumb.

Once caught a 24'' Striper on Lake Buchanan, and I thought that was big.  :lol Hell, that's the biggest fish I ever caught. Very cool, I bet he was a fun fight to reel in.
