Cyborg X spikes

I have had the saitek cyborg X for around 3 months and it is suddenly "spiking" full rudder deflection to the right only.

After looking up the problem online at saiteks site,(worthless) you would think not one of their sticks have ever encountered this problem.

What drives me crazy is this stick was designed to eliminate that particular issue.

All recent drivers have been downloaded and calibration has been done several times, and i searched the htc tech forums with no results, if anyone else has this stick with the same issue, please let me know how to resolve it.

It might be just oxidation, or some bit of dust has worked its way into the mechanism. I don't have that particular joystick, so I don't know if this will work or not, but when it happens to me with the Logitech Extreme 3d Pro, I find it helps a lot just to move the joystick all around for 15 minutes or so, twisting all of the axes several hundred times. That seems to clean off the oxides, and gives me several smooth months of use thereafter. I hope this helps!

Only three months I'd say warranty. If it was older I'd suggest opening it up and looking for broken or pinched wires.

I had the same problem with my X - still havent RMAed it.

Powered USB hub sorted out all my problems.

I am in a powered usb hub, cant find the reciept so return isnt an option.

I really like this stick and saitek support isnt the greatest

 Did that couldn't see anything that would cause that.....the small potentiometer for the rudder twist is sealed and might be the problem, all the solder joints and connection seem fine

Well, I have the guts to an old Saitek Evo that I cannibalized to get my CH analog pedals to USB and I have a few pots laying around or that could be removed easily. If interested shoot me a PM.

I have a 1 year warranty on mine and I dont see why you shouldnt unless its locational. 3 months is nothing. If its 3 months old you might have to bring it back to the shop but over a certain period of time it would have to go back to saitek themselves for an RMA or repair etc.

I had a Logitech Wingman that lost 60% of the rudder deflection to one side once. I was fed up to the point I said "screw it" and opened her up. The thin wires leading to the twist potentiometer (which was located up on top of the stick shaft, halfway up the inside of the stick) and which fed down into the base were so badly pinched between the left and right halves of the stick that the bare metal was exposed and it was shorting and on top of that restricting motion of the twist. After repositioning it I regained my twist back.

The sad news is, it was still a logitech, so it was still crappy even with that function back!


If you're handy, try unscrewing the halves of the grip and see if it's a fast and easy fix, like unpinching a wire.
