Doesnt sound like the brightest idea I've heard in a a while.

I understand about the need to get essential supplies to the troops. But morale is also an essential supply.
And if a country like ours cant deliver both. Then we have deeper problems.

Finally a no nonsense military command...  :salute

He says supplying non-essential luxuries to big bases such as Bagram and Kandahar "makes it harder to get essential items to combat outposts and forward operating bases, where troops fighting every day need to be resupplied with ammunition, food and water."

Get them the necessities and the luxuries will still be back home when they return.

Absolutely! When the boys out front need bullets and water, The REMF's can do without their extra fluffy toilet paper!

Only if you're a squeaker that isn't old enough to buy beer.  :P  Unless you think you can get terrorists to give up by offering them pizza...I'd take the bullets, bombs and water.

I am OK with it, cant tell you how many times they lost power on Bagram when it was -10 degrees, the electricity and water demand was high even a few years ago and I am sure its even more now with the inherent growth.  They still get plenty of good food at the NAVFAC, at least Taco night was always good....  :D

The Army guys will not have as much as an adjustment as the Navy guys will.  We are spoiled with AC/and hot showers.  :rofl

I'm thinking that the CSM feels fobbits have it too easy compared to those in outlying areas away from the FOB on the other side of the fences. He might just have a point.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

My team leader was telling me about last years deployment to afghanistan. They built their own COBs out of hesco walls because the egineers took too long to show up. They didnt take a shower for 6 months.........only wet wipe washs.....

We need more contractors building important things like fortified FOBs in areas where we have Combat Soldiers/Combat Marines running missions looking for Haji. I think any "real" Soldier will tell you that theyd rather have a crap meal and nice living AO instead of a crap living AO and fast food on the main bases.
