1941? Lets see, the British have the Crusader and Matilda (both with a 40mm gun), the US Army has the M3 Lee/Grant, the Germans have the Panzer III with a 37mm gun or short 50mm gun, and the Panzer IV with a short 75. Japanese and Italian tanks? not even close to the same league, small guns and weak armor. All of them have 50mm of armor or less. Outdated? I dont think so.

The KV-1 series was the most potent tank in any army untill the introduction of the Panzer IV F2 with the long 75mm gun in the Spring of 1942. It had 40-90mm of sloped armor and a 76.2mm gun and a 600hp deisel engine. There was an M1940, M1941 and M1942 varient, all of which were more than a match for its competitors.

The Germans themselves admitted the T-34 and KV series were the best tanks out there untill the Panther, Tiger and later Panzer IVs came into service. That being said campaigns and battles are not won by technical specs, and the drawbacks to the Soviet forces in 1941-2 had more to do with strategic deployment, training, leadership and crew training and tactics than any shortcomings in their equipment. They did not deploy their tank forces in concentration, lacked radios, and had other problems, but their basic AFVs were very good, sound designs.

The T34 was bad enough, But If a KV1 came rolling out of the frozen fog, in 1941, german troops were in major trouble.. Equipment wise, there really wasn't anything except a 88flak or 105howitzer that could outright dispose of it.. Maybe a Pak38, if it could draw them close enough, but in 41 there weren't many of those around.. Pak40 even fewer, if any.. (Tank v Tank, lol, not even going there) The germans were lucky during barbarossa, benefitting greatly from Russian inaction, ineptitude and inexperience, at ALL levels! Stalin was hiding under his bed for more than a month!

Game wise, I'd have to go with the "HE111 position".. There are many other things needed more, just to fill the game out, and remedy some gameplay sillyness.. We already have EXcellent representation for Russian tank forces!  PzIII/37 or 50mm, Stug and Marder II III, that started life as a lashup vehicle/gun combos, made to KILL T34's and KV's.. Actually there were more SP guns in service than "tanks"...  Matilda, Crusader, M3(honey) M5(USA), many others.. More EW AA vehicles.. Anti tank guns... Artillery... Bridges.. Engineer/Pioneer functions in game... Separate Amphibious invasion fleets... Player spawnable Destroyers...
I Could go on and on, but I'm tired of typing...

Hope we get it all in the end

the KV-1 is actually much more different than the T-34 models, the KV-1 was MUCH larger than T-34s and also MUCH slower on rough terrain. Level terrain it could go 35kph (NOT mph)... along with the fact that the armor thickness was 70mm in every direction except up and down. the 41 models used the crappy F32 and F34 guns and the 1942 versions had the less crappy ZiS-5 and varied between the EXTREMELY bulky KV-1 model which went only 25kph on road with only a 600hp engine and the faster lighter KV-1S that could go 45kph on road but only had a max armor protection of 82mm compared to its other 42 model with 130mm. The reason i want the KV-1 is because of Soviet tank commander Zinoviy Kolobanov who engaged an entire German column of 43 German tanks of which 22 tanks and 2 artillery pieces his tank destroyed alone and his 4 other KV-1s in his command finished the column off only deploying one KV-1 at a time to engage the enemy... Of the KV-1s that engaged the column 2 still remained in reserve. 43 tanks destroyed by THREE KV-1s. Of course though this was in 41 when the Germans didnt have any effective AT weapons. Kolobanov's crew of KV-1 number 864 counted a total of 135 hits on their tank after the battle. The KV-1 was the Tiger of the early war...
The T34/76 can destroy tigers and the KV-1 has a russian 76mm aka crap gun... and seeing as how T34/76s can destroy tigers you can kill a KV-1... The KV-1 was a freaking... oh idk a freaking hippo, slow cant climb hills and has a mean bite vs the others

It could could go up hills. Its power-weight ratio was no worse than a Panther's was, @ 13hp/ton.

KV-1 dimensions:

Length 6.75 m
Width 3.32 m
Height 2.71 m

T-34 dimensions:

Length 6.68 m
Width 3.00 m
Height 2.45 m

...and it was just slightly larger in dimensions, being @ 1 foot taller, and 1 foot wider. Hardly a huge difference.

Its road speed was 22 mph, again, for a 45 ton heavily armored tank, very respectable. Yes, a Crusader or a Panzer III could go much faster, but then they could also be killed by small caliber AT Guns.

true but if you look at the mobility problems of the T34/76 in game, imagine the KV-1? the difference between these two tanks stops at the gun and engine block... A KV-1 is TWICE the weight of a T34/76

The Firefly is at the top of ww2 tank technology, therefore another tank of ANY sort would only introduce yet another easily consumable prey animal to the game...

WAIT, I LOVE Firefly's!!!
In that case, BRING ON THE PANTHER!  :rofl

Seriously, the ground game has been turn'd on its head..., and will remain so until some sort of reality is reintroduced in the form of Shermans that take realistic damage.

Im honest when I say any more Uber German (or of any nationality for that matter) tanks would be a waste when the Firefly is so strong.
It's not that I wouldnt love to drive somthing new..., it's just that any introduction seems pointless considering that further historical heavywhieghts would be overmatched in the face of an American tank that can survive multiple hits in its ammo storage by 88mm's.

The "Game" has a long way to go yet..., its surprising that the developers havent realised this yet...

I agree M4's that can survive any shot to the sponson and survive s way to much.  Even though wet ammo storage solved some issues with hits to the sponsons the ability of th Firefly to take direct hits from the 88mm and shake it off is a tad much.  Either perkt he M4 on par with the tiger or change its characteristics.
