And if you're wondering, yes, I DID sign. And am taking the day off.

I'm not necessarily a Cards fan but St. Louis is probably the best baseball town there is, I have to give it to them.  One of my buddies is a big fan and went last year with his brother and sister in law.  I'm planning on making the trip this year.

It's obvious you don't live in a baseball town.

Sometime you do or ask for things that you know likely won't happen. You do it anyhow just because it's funny or makes you and others feel good.

It's called a sense of humor, an integral part of a well adjusted person. Maladjusted persons just don't get it.

DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

How about another state holiday for the last day of the season so you can celebrate getting yet another losing season over with? ;)

It would have to be before the end of the season. We quit caring about baseball as soon as football starts!

I grew up a St. Louis Cardinals fan (baseball and football). When the football Cardinals left town, I switched to the Chiefs. I grudgingly accepted the Royals when I moved to KC seven years ago. They have consistently met my low expectations every year.  :cry

I haven't liked the Royals since the I70 series and the pine tar affair. Besides, KC never had Ozzie Smith. I'll always be a Chiefs fan.

They ALMOST had Pujols, but didn't pull the trigger.

Oops.

Negative.   IIRC a Rockies scout found him first, but the Devil Rays were quicker to try him out.   The Devil Rays were not impressed with his try out performance and passed on him.   If I'm not mistaken, he was a 12th or 13th round pick on top of it all.   BTW, the Tampa Bay scout who arranged the try-out, quit because he was pissed off they didn't sign him.

I grew up in St. Louis.  Never went to opening day, to my deepest regret.

I could never go to a Dodgers opening day.  The Angels don't play real baseball.

So, tonight I'm going to the Class A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes home opener.  Yes, Quakes.  Their stadium is the Epicenter and their mascots are named Tremor and Aftershock.

I'm all giddy because it is an opening day game.  And it should be a holiday in St. Louis because you have to take the day off to watch the game.

HONK!

Am I the only one STILL ticked off by that horrible call at the plate by the Ump in KC?

He was SAFE by a foot!

I grew up in St. Louis and it is probably the best baseball town in the USA by far.

I can totally see the people of Missouri voting to make that a state holiday.
