still in my 'free 2 weeks', but what i'd be most interested in in AH (or any other combat sim) is scenarios ... arena, perk planes & scores don't attract me.
so planes i'd like to see are early Hurricanes, Bf-109E, Ju-87 Stuka (Battle of Britain and North African desert/Malta scenarios), P-39 & P-40 (early Pacific and desert), Me-110 (BoB & nighfighter ; what's the use of having a Lanc and no real nighfighters ?), Val & Kate (Pearl Harbour, any Pacific battle), IL-2 Sturmovik (any Eastern front battle).
all pretty 'regular' planes ...

Would be nice to have at least one perk for each nation involved.
BTW, bring the G.55 and the G.56 (perked) for Italy. Same fuselage, same armament, different engine (DB605 and DB603 respectively). I guess, not difficult to build the 3D thing from the C.205 existing one.
SM79 could be interesting, but only for Med scenarios, IMHO.

RAF needs the Spitfire XIV, while USAF needs a late P-47. Jap air force needs a Ki84. I'd like to see an A7M Reppu as well. If we have to fight a late war, we should have all the irons needed
"And one of the finest aircraft I ever flew was the Macchi C.205. Oh, beautiful. And here you had the perfect combination of italian styling and german engineering .... it really was a delight to fly ... and we did tests on it and were most impressed." - Captain Eric Brown

Hmmm-Plenty of planes already.  I think the game could use a British or US tank to counter the Panz in scenario play.

Hmmm and just think about the marketing possibilities of adding new Japanese Aircraft... Pearl Harbor from Bruckheimer is coming this July, and the media is going to go crazy for all things related to that.

Give'em a virtual Pearl Harbor (Scenario perhaps?) and you'll have Aces High on TV in no time!

"Pearl Harbor is a hit! Both in your theatre and in your PC"
"Pearl Harbor strikes again in your PC!"
and so on...

Come on, you KNOW it's gonna happen

Tried a Pearl Harbor scenario over in AW (I helped in the design, and was one of the CO's).

Its extremely hard to do.

Either its a matter of the Japanese vulching everyone on the runway, or you insert so many fantasy rules that the US ends up fully launched and waiting over Oahu at 30k, that they totally decimate the attacking japanese rice paper planes.

Good idea, I just think it would be very hard too do.

Verm, I have no experience in Scenario design, but I think this would work (Pearl Harbor):

USA: Close all bases until the attack is taking place. Harden the cruisers so that multiple torpedo hits are necessary in order to sink each of them. Only manned AA Guns available.

Japan: Give the planes strictly the minimum fuel quantity needed to get in, launch the attack, get out, and give many perkies to the ones who get home alive.

If you don't come back, no perkies.

That way you don't have time to vulch anyone, just do what you are told and get back.

That also gives the US the opportunity to chase the bogeys on their way home.

What do you think?

Cyrano, thats basically how we tried too do it, but the devil is in the details

I would say to write up your ideas in detail, and send them to banana or Daddog over in the Scenario Corps.   Thats basically how I started in Scenarios.

Cyrano,

Unfortunately that would not simulate the event in the slightest.  The Japanese prevented all but two aircraft from launching, and those two launched from an unknown airfield.  The Japanese were very successful at destroying the aircraft while they were parked on the ground.  Very few AA guns were manned in the first few minutes of the attack.

Any rules that try to set up the actual event will end with the Japanese slaughtering the Americans.  Pearl Harbour isn't a battle so much as an ambush.  Its not really a good thing to do in a scenario.  The ultimate Pacific Theatre scenarios are Coral Sea and, especially, Midway.
