WEP on B17
« on: October 27, 2001, 12:14:00 PM »
I rode in the B17 909 a few years ago and I know there were WEP positions on the throttle settings. Is there a reason there isn't a WEP setting for the B17?

Yeap, your right...this is known as takeoff boost and is usually good for five minutes..before the manifold overpressure burst a gasket or rings or worse...my contention is that all a/c have a wep setting it just depends on the game's interpretation of what they want wep to represent...
if you use max continuous rating (also known as international or normal)as your normal max throttle then you can advance to military (known as climb&combat..5 to 15 minutes) and then wep or takeoff (max boost) rating augmented with ADI or nitro.

I had an old flight sim call Secret Weapons of the LW. It had WEP on the B-17 but if you used it very long you would hurt the engines. Sounds like they were representing what your talking about. It would be a nice option on here.
