After watching "Wings of the Red Star" on Youtube, i've changed my mind concerning the plane.
The Russians use, and production of planes seem'd to narrow as the second world war continued, and after seeing the sheer ammount of ordinance the plane carried, and the divebomber roll for wich it was produced, I find myself VERY impressed.
The plane seems to suffer from teething problems similar to the B-26, in that implimenting its dive bomber roll took the pilots ut-most attention, (the B-26 having landing querks) yet it performed well given the instructions of several inovative pilots in the USSR. (who ignored thier orders, and dove the plane anyway)
It would be intresting to experience this flight model, and I look forward to the day when perhaps another light bomber could be added to the game.
Here is a plane that has its roots in the design of MANY pre-WW2 aircraft, yet surpasses them.
It grew out of the failure of many types, and the learning of many leasons, and served along side the IL-2 as a front-line support aircraft.
