Gettin way outta hand! Literally!
« on: April 14, 2010, 08:25:07 AM »
A guy called me, said he wanted to sell a gun he bought last year.. No gunshops would take it, because the market is so small for this kind of thing.. I bought it because the guy is a buddy, and he needed the money.. Gave 400$ for it, gonna try it today :uhoh
Generally I don't go for this kind of thing, but the price was right, so WTF ya know!
This is a size comparison between a S/W combat seven shot .357magnum, vs .500magnum S/W..
Wadda ya think? Are the revolver gods gettin WAY outta hand here?  :rofl :rofl :rofl

If I survive the atomic blast, I'll let ya know how it works...

Notice the compression brake on the end, thats to keep it from smacking ya in the face when you squeeze the trigger, friend has one with a longer barrel, shot it once no need to shoot it again.

At least if you limp-wrist it, you won't get hit in the forehead as if it was a .50 Desert Eagle. :lol

A dime sized cut on the forehead looks awesome....ha

Shoot it once or twice and put it on Gunbrokers to recoup your cost. At least you have pictures to prove that you owned something like that ONCE!

No need for a revolver like that but for more information go look up lazs and he can help you out.

If you ever had to brandish that as a threat to someone else...

i don't think you would even have to fire it off at all.

Mother of god.  I guess if you are being attacked a zombie bear, that could potentially be necessary.  Or maybe a moose.

Geez...I'd wear reinforced wrist braces to fire that thing. That barrel is way too short for that round...if it was longer you could get it magnaported and gain a little more control over that thing.

Don't fire it at steel targets...and good luck.

I payed 400 for my Smith & Wesson 44 Magnum, I dont shoot it much other than for warm up at the range prior to my Sig, makes the Sig seem like a BB gun.

Hold on tight thats for sure or your teeth will be on the floor.

But being practical doesn't come into the equation when owning these!  :D

And having said that, my .50 was the dumbest gun purchase I ever made.  lol  At least this .500 only cost him $400 for ridiculousness!  (And safety in Bear country).

$400 for that gun is a steal. Screw practicality. Just go blow up some milk jugs/pumpkins/watermelons...the sheer joy should cover the $400.  :x

(and maybe invest in some reloading equipment if you haven't already)

If your worried about bears, bear spray only costs $50 and is more effective at stopping a charging grizzly then most handguns.

Me... I'm not that paranoid about bears, I've spent hundreds of nights in bear country, just bear bag your smellables and set up your camp right and they won't bother you.  I only carry bear spray because my job requires it, I've had close encounters with about a dozen black bears and two grizzlies and never even though about using it.  Contrary to what some urbanites think, bears do not go around looking for campers to eat.

As for the SW 500, If you don't want the money off it for something else, I'd keep it.  As others pointed out blowing stuff up and/or putting big holes in it just for kicks can be a real blast.  Sure there is no practical use for a handgun of that caliber, but who cares.
