So, the other night my son and I were watching the history channel and we saw a Waco Glider. My grandfather (Burton Phillipson) flew those in WWII. While looking up his name online I came across this article when I googled his name.
http://www.ocregister.com/articles/-218702--.html
Turns out this guy and my grandfather were separated at Market Garden, where he thought he had been killed. He lived until April of 45 when he was killed during operation Varsity. I got my dad and grandmother in touch with him and needless to say if you read the article you can imagine the joy. Thought I would share this with you all, even 65 years after the fact, your perspective can change for the better.

Wow...nice find. Men like that are almost non-existent now.

Awesome story. Thank you for sharing it.
This quote really stands out-
"The power pilots looked down their noses at us," says Theis. "But we (said) the "G" on our wings stood for guts."
A big
to these gutsy guys!

Dirtdart thanks for sharing that with us man.
Big

Gotta go call both my grandfathers now. Thankfully both are still alive and both served in the Pacific.
