just wanted to make this official (sort of)
« on: April 15, 2010, 10:21:33 PM »
im pretty sure all of us scenario nerds want the Ki-43 in the game, as well as the G4M (betty).

and im gonna throw this in there, the J2M3 (ive been wanting it for a long time now  :pray):

its kinda cute, aint it?  :) I like to call it "the Japp Jug"
i believe its slightly more nimble than the N1K1, but it has the same firepower with 4x20mm cannons

so please put in your comments and votes for these three planes, i got my +1 in  :aok

I think this plane would be a good new addition to aceshigh. I like the guns seems by its design structure to be maneuverable and fast.

are you talking about the J2M3 or the Ki-43?

the J2M3 version i would be talking about would be the mass-produced version, the Model 21

could carry up to 120 kg of ords along with a 200 litre centerline drop tank. decent in engine preformance, but a great high-altitude preformer. had 2x20mm Type 99 Model 2 cannons in the fuselage and 2x20mm Type 99 Model 1 cannons in the wing (the Model 2 cannons had a faster rate of fire). compression, like most IJ planes, begins around 375 mph. many call this the best interceptor that Japan ever made in the war.

Ki-43

ok yeah the two models i was thinking about are the Ki-43 II and th Ki-43 IIIb.

the II had 2x12.7mm MG's in the cowling, while the IIIb had 2x20mm cannons. the IJAAF wasnt very generous on ammo, as the II only had 500 rounds total, and the IIIb had 200. the III model had a more powerful engine, and therefore could go 43 mph faster than the II. both the II and III models could go over 1000 miles on internal feul, and with the addition of 2x45 gal. drop tanks, could travel 1800 miles

You could make something like 5 different Ki-43 variants on two models just by using gun package options:

Ki-43-I
  • Ki-43-Ia - 2x7.7mm
  • Ki-43-Ib - 1x7.7mm and 1x12.7mm
  • Ki-43-Ic - 2x12.7mm

Ki-43-III - Uprated engine and drop tank provisions
  • Ki-43-IIIa - 2x12.7mm
  • Ki-43-IIIb - 2x20mm
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

IMHO, adding the J2M would fit the "nice to have" category, rather than "needed".  Only around 500 Raiden (Thunderbolt) were made, slightly more than half of them (~ 260) the J2M3 variant.  At a wing loading of 171.3 kilograms per square meter (~ 32.8 pounds per square foot) I don't know that I'd call the J2M3 "nimble", but I agree it would be nice to have.

As long as it drives like this truck, no worries.

If it's anything like this truck forget it.
