My grandpas cousin was in the same division as your uncle and also recieved a purple heart at the Battle of the Bulge. He's been gone for almost 20 yrs now, and as a kid he was larger then life to me. I really looked up to him. A true hero in my eyes then and now.

I wonder if they knew each other.

Maybe possible but it was 17000 soldiers in that division.  Who knows. Here is the list of the soldiers in the 12th division.  See if his name is there and what Battalion.  www.12tharmoredmuseum.com/members.asp
