Aces High on Wikipedia
« on: April 23, 2010, 04:10:25 PM »
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aces_High_%28video_game%29

It's in a sorry state for a game that's been around like this!
Usually if you want to point people to something, you throw em a wikipedia link (people are more familiar with reading wikipedia)

Anyone know what's up with it? Looks like it was bigger at some stage.

Warbirds and Fighter Ace may not have the most expansive pages but they're also levels beneath AH.

Needs to be updated and improved.  Wiki is a form of free, easy, and effective advertisement.

It's years out of date. Those "100-200" are now "up to 500" in the FSOs.

Can we get one of our "wiki" guru's to give that page a makeover?

I don't know, but it looks like they insist that any posting be backed up with third party publications.
I guess someone will need to write a book about AH before they'd accept anything favorable.  :rofl

I thought about making a single reference note, something to the effect; "Verifiable upon installation and inspection of the game." Then you could make statements about the planeset, view system, stick mapping etc. without making any claims that require someone to publish a book. Of course, some arcade fanboy would probably go in and delete it anyway.

Wouldn't links to AH web pages suffice?

The third party thing is perfectly logical, and I completely agree with it.  It wouldn't be a problem if there were some 3rd party sources about Aces High, but since there aren't, the article's unlikely to improve until there are, or someone digs an ancient one up.
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

Working on the page right now, I think I've found some sources.  :D

...

It's beginning to come together now.

...

B***** h*** that thing's confusing!

Could someone please check to see that the info on this page is still correct, and update it if it isn't?

Should probably remove combat tour from the page as well.

I have it there because it's part of the history of the game, and it leads in to a small bit about the Mission Editor too.

Nicely done Yosi!  Interesting to look at to view the game in a historical fashion.  Kudos to HTC as well.
