I'm going to assume you don't drive but I'm going to use this analogy.

Not that I give a rat's rectum, but I think he's talking about the base fires.  You know, sitting on the main pad (in case someone tries to kill you and you can safely tower out instead).  The hanger is on fire and there's smoke blocking your view of that Lancstuka diving in to drop 20 bombs to take out your Wirbie.
