Del is tough to beat for a wingman.  As he mentioned we've flown a number of scenarios back to the airwarrior days.  That's about the only time I get too serious about winging.  He's probably gotten more kills in scenarios saving my flying wreckage then anywhere else :)

The two Spit Vs against the 190s will always stand out.

Soulyss is a close second as he's done more winging in the MA with me.  A couple of 39 sorties have been memorable.  Winging in DGS was good fun too.  Most of the time in the MA it's my job to be bait and the rest of the 80th guys shoot the trail of bad guys following my smoking 38.

Both Del and Soulyss are masters of "how bout we do this" or 'you might want to watch out for that guy." while pretending I'm the guy in front deciding where to go.  I live so much longer when I listen to them :)

Had a number of great wingmen over the years, flying Dan/Corky/Guppy's wing in the DSG scenario will always be a high point in my Ah career except for the part where he was escorting my shot up 38 back home when it's supposed to be the other way around. :)

In the MA's I've been blessed with some rather talented and just around decent folks to fly with some have moved on like Mathman and Saw, the current group of miscreants that I fly with do a great job of keeping the game fresh and laughs frequent.  Personally I think it takes a lot to stick around on my wing for more than a sortie, I've invited a couple folks along for the ride recently and the sortie that usually goes some like...

Wingman: "hey Soul, you DO see that big blob of red coming our way right? We're about to get ganged..."
Me: "yes of course I do that's why we're here isn't?"
*wingman quietly tunes off the radio channel and turns around*
Me: "ok I'm going to start in on guys to the righ.... hello?"
*a few seconds later a P-38G, missing most of it's critical parts and trailing smoke plows a large hole in someone's field*

I remember one FSO where we had Temps and our job was to escort bombers.  I was trying to give strategy input on being patient and next thing I know, Bipolar pulls a "Leroyyyyy Jenkinssss!!!!!!!!!" and dives 18k to pounce a cluster of enemies.  Next thing I know the entire squadron is following his stupid arse in on the deck slaughtering the enemy.  Luckily it all worked out and no one died and it makes for a pretty funny story.

Honestly, avoid me as a wingman unless you like being ganged in a 20 to 1 situation. Ask grizz or any of the muppets for that matter :D

In the MA that's my way of operating.  Dive into the crowd.  Who cares.  Take a few, get a new bird :)

i think that way also, but some people i wont mention names..they dont get why im so aggressive. its like...dude i'll take out as many as i can before i die and up a new pixel plane, doesn't matter to me..

but as i stated before, kermit and i have winged for years, just somethin about wingin wit him that i can stay focused and not be like "oh shiney object!!!". i have the attention span of a fly, i love wingin with my other squadies but they like to focus on the task at hand and they do great, i really wish i could be like that sometimes but it never happens that way lol

Have no idea what this thread is about (can hardly type)...... discovered local winery.  However, tried to wing with some folks I thought would be fun to jump in with after a long night of work and way too much wine (un wine ing)  :x

I guess, the wingman concept, is something mostly enjoyed by those who have flown together for a while (ie. Betty.... )  Anyhow, scrolled down to find a couple of my old friends from Duxford RAF, and had a blast.... just plucking away at the keyboard.

Sometimes, wingman is something more than a guy to catch your back, it just may be someone who can make you forget about what a crappy day/ night of work, etc. yada yada...

Catch me when it's about time to leave for work and might not be so great to wing with, but catch me with a buzz......  and maybe I might actually stick to your wing (if for no other reason, than to keep from having to look where I am going).
