Does anyone read about the planes they wish for beyond what the plane specs were?  If the OP had, he would have seen that the Junkers Ju 188 was only a marginal improvement over the plane it was supposed to replace (Ju 88).

It would still be a major improvement for anyone flying German Iron in the MW/LW arenas in Aces High, much more survivable than our early Ju 88.

Of course, I still prefer the Do 217E & M models to be added ;)

Well I kinda think of it like a He-111 almost,if we can't have the He-111 why not have something like it.

Ack, though the JU188 was only slightly better than the Ju88 it would be in my opinion a better dive bomber.  I have been on a mission lately to master the art of th edive bomb in the 88.  Still learning it though it is tricky but the 188 would be a tad better.  I am all for new aircraft and vehicles.

The Ju 188 was no dive bomber.
And the Ju-88 was only used that way very early in the war.

Well the defense guns on the Ju-188 I think are better. What's your opinion.

It is a very good request. Considering that the Ju-188 is actually a significant improvement over the Ju88A-4 we have in AH.

The top speeds I've seen are 335mph which is roughly 45mph (!!) faster than AH's Ju88A-4. Not really a big wonder considering that the Ju188A-series has Jumo 213A engines with MW-50 injection instead of the old Jumo 211Js of the Ju88A-4. To put this into perspective, Ju188 has roughly 700hp more power and that's on a take off setting, not with MW-50 injection engaged. For the defensive armament you have 20mm cannon both in the turret and one firing forward plus also 13mm firing rearward instead of the 100% rifle calibre armament of the Ju88A-4 in AH. The bombload is the same as in the Ju88A4 which is already a respectable bombload for a medium bomber.

All in all Ju188 would be a clear improvement over the Ju88A-4 and a great addition to AH.

20mm MG151/20 in the turret would help the defenses, yes.   :P

In the sense of a true dive bomber neither was a true dive bomber like the SBD or the Stuka but the 88 does a decent job as far as I have learned to use it.
