« on: April 29, 2010, 08:23:55 PM »
Start the video at 9:10 and watch me clearly hit the niki and half the tail fly off then somehow it goes straight vertical?

Kinda curious as to how effective the 30mm will be against the new mossie that is being remodeled. Wasnt the mossie historically known for its ability to remain structurally intact after repeated shots by 30mms?

It seems to me, in my personal experience, now that we can destroy the left or right horizontal stabilizer, tater hits to the tail section are less deadly than before the change.  Hits in the tail section seem to result more often in simply destroying a single stabilizer, rather than removing the entire tail.  Could just be me though.

Notice that on crossing shots it seems to happen more often.

Which ticks me off because I spent the past 8 years perfecting my "tail shots" which pretty much don't do squat now.

Gota relearn my aim point now and start shooting at wing roots I guess.

semp took some shots to my left stab last night, 109G6, and didn't realize it was gone until I looked at the DR.  I was thinking just because of the size of the stabs on the 109 it didn't affect the flying but who knows for sure.......  She flew with no issues all the way home.

But, what I don't understand is how the niki went straight vertical like it didn't really have a tail?

It has been happening more and more to me where a 30mm shot does not kill an enemy fighter. Bombers...forget about it. It seems to take all 65 rounds of the cannon to kill a formation of heavy bombers.

Lol! You show WAY too much mercy.  Why would you not aim for the melon behind the glass?  :devil

I have noticed the same.  I think it is more difficult to get a kill.  I think it is more realistic.  I do not think that one tater would take off both sides of the tail.
I'm also adjusting my gunnery a bit (thanks to Grizz for that 99/262 sortie film, <S>) and have seen significant improvement.

I think it is more fun.

I've been out of the game for a while now. Is it still this type of issue, or more because the damage is focusing on one part of the tail now?
