It took a long time but finally the old MechWarrior 4 game has been released for free.

Zonematch has been replaced with MekMatch in all visible text and is the one and only mech-matching service
5 new MekMatch servers to host and play on! You can change servers whenever you like. Each server has a dedicated community to cater to

"Connect" and "Host" default to the last server chosen

there is a 15meg downloader you have to download and install to download MechWarrior 4 and unfortuntately, the MekTek server is acting wonky due to the mass traffic.  You can download the installer from FilePlanet.

i think there servers took a dump. there site is not working the mektek.exe is do the same thing. great some one broke it! they need a skuzzy. we should clone skuzzy! lol

downloaded the installer but the link for the game download wont work

Finally got it to download.  Think the problem is their servers are getting hammered by everyone and their mother trying to download MW4.

Yeah, guess they didn't have enough confidence in their product to think more than a dozen people might try to download it and to beef up their capacity.  Or perhaps they just don't have a clue.   
I'll keep trying now and again.  I certain won't plan my life around getting it downloaded.

I really enjoyed my time in the NetBattleTech (NBT-x) league.  I was "BigBenn", and was the XO and then Co of the Federated Suns for over 4 years.  The NBT admin really did a fine job with the last reincarnation of MW3, they had all but the source code to tinker with the coding.  They had the engines, the armor, the weapons, they had everything down to the actual Battle Tech specs. 

My favorite was the Warhammer.
