Junior Johnson, Tim Flock and Richard Petty

Now I just root for the Va. drivers mostly.... Burton, Sadler, Hamlin.  Favorite driver not from my home state is DaleJr.

Wendell Scott has always been and old favorite of mine too. It was just awesome what that guy could achieve in his time.

I have alot of respect for Jimmie Johnson and what he is about to do. Win 5 chapinonships, and then do it 5 times in a row.

But I'm personally a Tony Stewart, Denny Hammlin kinda guy.

Ever since the chase was introduced NASCAR just does not have the same appeal for me.
The COT, the cars even look more alike aside from the occasional decal.

Hearing the drivers talk "sponsor sponsor blah sponsor sponsor sponsor". The soul has gone out of it, the drivers need to behave
to the point of boredom.

Not looking for an argument, just my 2 cents.

Uptown, where in VA are you?

You're spot on. Big money and multi car teams have ruined to sport that I grew up with. I still like it alot, but it's completely different now.

I'm from the Tidewater area. Born in Hampton. I moved away in the late 70s but go back every so often to visit the family.

Nascar hasn't been the same sense it was Winston Cup, Drivers are groomed on how to act, what to say now, cripes sakes its not Formula one, I'm a diehard Nascar fan for the past 35 years, but the sport is changing and the verdicts still out on if that's for the good, at least this year the Drivers have alittle more freedom to rub and bump

Can any of you guys honestly tell me or anyone else WHY you think Dale Jr is your favorite driver? I mean come on the only reason is because of his name right????

The guy has only made 2 of the Chase for the Cup groups I think and hasn't even been in contention for the championship in either one. By all appearances and from what a few people who know him well enough to say this...he is a whiny butt who doesn't do anything but complain...suffice it to say if I had to pull for a driver and I don't it....Jimmy Johnson.
