Getting rid of score and overall rankings per month
« on: May 09, 2010, 03:00:49 AM »
Would people change they way they fly if the score system was taken out?

In my own opinion "score" is only good for CV control, which gets abused here and there.  I'm no means a good stick and never plan on being #1 or so why go for it? HT doesnt give a monthly prize or anything.

I say do a trial month with NO RANK/SCORE and see what happens, maybe some better fights, maybe not.  <S>

  let the bashing begin.

Should go in the wishlist.

Interesting prospect. Would definitely see more liberal use of cartoon pilots and their machines.

I was recently falling victim to a well known score troll when he was trying to rack up kills vulching a feild. I upped from the nearest base and chassed him down only to be cursed out in a PM :x. Point here is..you want to play your game? then let me play mine.

If you want to play for score/rank, its your $$$. Anyone here knows the score system is FUBAR and it really doesnt reflect ones skill. It doesnt mean that they are skill less, it just shows that they play a much more conservative game than others. Keeping the score system really doesnt bother me, I have been playing a while now and know what to expect when you meet up with these people. Ive had more fun fighting a guy ranked 500 than I have meeting up with someone in the top 10 and thats what really matters here :aok

No. I play how I play when I have time to play. Score simply does not matter to my idea of fun. More important to me is good times, comradery & sportsmanship. That's why I'm here.

I agree with the no score thing. However, it will never happen.

Get rid of the score and a large number of people would stop playing...believe it, or not.

It would not stop the ridiculous b.s. on 200 or any of the behavior you are wanting stopped...do yourself a favor, change your outlook. When it's all said and done at the end of the night when you log off, does it really matter who vulched, HO'd, picked, rammed or farted while you ate your cheerios or how many times they did it? I'm no ace pile-it by any stretch of the imagination but I can tell when a HO is likely to occur and can avoid it if I want...I know when I'm most likely to get vulched and can avoid it if I want...I know when the possibility of getting picked is high and can avoid 90% of the attempts...and most collisions can be avoided.

It all boils down to how you look at things...if everything occurred exactly the way you wanted it to, it would get boring very fast.

Just change the criteria....

Judge Smails: Ty, what did you shoot today?
Ty Webb: Oh, Judge, I don't keep score.
Judge Smails: Then how do you measure yourself with other golfers?
Ty Webb: By height.

Score really means nothing, the only thing that means something is if you can fly and fight. :airplane: The people who count rank/score are really pathetic, all that tells me is that they can't survive a 1v1 or fight in one. There will never ever be a fair 1v1 fight without one of there buddies running in to help them, nothing but gang banging. I really don't agree or think that the no score/rank thing will even work, especially in the MA.

I have to brow beat you on this one...no offense but...do you think score is a factor if my squadmates and I attack someone together?...wrong. We don't care about score...we do what we need to do to shoot an opponent down. The only way a "fair fight" would occur is if everyone fly the same airplane...we all have the same amount of experience...we all have the same computers and the same stick setups...and we all have the same connection speeds.

Leave fair out of the equation unless you're willing to give up the little advantages that you give yourself.

There are rarely 1 v 1's in the MA anyway so it is a non-issue.  This thread is about score vs no score and how people will interact in the game if there was no scoring system.  I submit to you fellow cartoon pilots that we would have massive, interesting furballs going on all over the map if there was no scoring system.

People can play anyway they want to but the scorekeepers have a strong tendency to keep their atmospheric advantages and they fly, in most cases, like they actually have something to lose (their score perhaps?).  That doesn't apply to all great scoring pilots...I watched him kill 3 squaddies and then was ultimately killed by Kappa (yes, in the same sortie, lol).....we were all on the deck and I was in a typically better turning aircraft and the only "gang" around was Kappa himself...OMG (one man gang).  Ive seen others do the same, Grizz, Bruv, Batfink, etc etc etc...but those guys??? They NEVER talk about their scores that I have ever heard or read.  Seeing the picture here?

Perhaps they don't need a johnson-measuring device....lol...keep the scores, just don't post them.  Post the SQUAD rankings....hell, I have no idea.

dont get rid of the score, but allow us to have the option to opt out of the scoring system.  if it makes it simpler allow ah to keep score, but not to display it for anybody that chooses not to.  just have a box next to your name to select to show score.

sorry change up but grizz not talking about his score, kinda like saying he doesnt fly a 262, lol
