Fairey Firefly
« on: May 12, 2010, 09:47:25 AM »
The Firefly would be a good Navel aircraft to see in AH
Would be a good dive bomber and a potential fighter attacker
(Yes I am well aware that people have posted topics about this before)

Performance
Maximum speed: 316 mph at 14,000 ft
Range: 1,300 mi
Service ceiling: 28,000 ft
Armament
Guns: 4 × 20 mm Hispano-Suiza HS.404 cannons
Rockets: 8 × RP-3 "60 lb" rockets
Bombs: 2 × 1,000 lb (454 kg) bomb under wings

Would be a nice addition

Any thoughts?

Ok so...you're saying this would be as useful as what currently exists for allied aircraft naval operations...how exactly, I mean besides the "oh cool" factor? Just another late war Brit monster with no real purpose...especially considering the Typhoon and Tempest.

Typhoon and Tempest can't operate off of CVs,

That said, Axis needs some new aircraft first.

it was slow, hurricane bad :lol, and i think early war maybe mid war
Actually late war. If it actually flew at 315mph that's not so slow...you should have someone like NK5L show you how "slow" the Hurricane really is.

Look for better sources.  It was late war.  First British aircraft to fly over Tokyo though.

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

The back seater's role was pretty much the same as the current back seater's role in today's modern 2 seat jets.  The back seater on the Firefly was the navigator/weapons officer.

Do you need little tiny planes and pilots, and fluff filters for a navel aircraft? :lol
